It ain't over til it's over
Game 3 of the ALDS, Sox trail 2 games to none and down 3-0 going to the bottom of the 9th.
But - with 2 out no less, they score 4 runs and keep their season alive. It ain't over til it's over. ![]() _ |

My experience....
My Cubs up 2 games to 1, NLDS best of 5, against the Cardinals. Up by 1, at St. Louis, going to the bottom of the 9th. My stud closer is injured and not on the playoff roster. My stud setup man that could close for most teams comes in. Just needs to get 3 outs and onto the NLCS. But... My closer gets the first two outs easily pitching to the 7-8 hitters. 9 hole hitter is a sub from earlier double switch, this should be easy. Proceeds to walk him and the next three batters, 4 in a row, game tied. Go onto lose in the 11th. Follow that up getting blown out at Wrigley two days later, season over ![]() Only concession is Cards lose to Mets in NLCS ![]() Am I required to start an OOTP cheats thread? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

This one just happened to me. Worst part? I didn't see it after the bottom of the 7th! I recently lost a year and 2 months of my league due to a corrupted database and no recent backup (I learned a hard hard lesson), so if I'm getting my butt kicked I sim to the end of the game after about the 5th or 6th and move on to the next game, trying to catch back up to where I was before the crash.
Anyway I was down 8-1 in the top of the 8th and decided to simulate to the end. Maybe I shouldn't have. |

Here's the game log for those two innings. Sorry I can't seem to post it all in one image.

Here's one that came out good for me yesterday...
My 1977 Mets historical start. Home game against the Pittsburgh Pirates in mid-April with Gossage on the mound for them against Mike Torrez (picked up in a trade because Matlack is out until July from a spring training injury). Pirates rock Torrez for 14 hits in six innings of work and have a 6-0 lead with Gossage throwing a no-hitter (two walks) going into the bottom of the eighth and pretty well worn out (stamina of 33). Feliz Millan leads off with a single to end the no-hit bid and knocks Gossage out of the game, the Bucs bullpen proceeds to implode giving up 4 runs in the eighth and the tying two off Tekulve in the ninth and it stays tied until the bottom of the 13th when Bud Harrelson singles in the winning run. The Mets bullpen was amazing, going 7 innings and giving up 3 hits, no walks with 3 k's. Not something I would have expected because outside of Skip Lockwood & Bob Apodaca the rest of the guys are mediocre to just plain bad. Last edited by Will_L; 12-01-2020 at 05:45 PM. |

Heh, it's not so pleasant when we are on the wrong end of those comebacks.

How do you perform a double-switch in OOTP?

There's more than one way. The way I do it is
1. on the lineup change the position "P" to "-" 2. put your new player into that spot (usually the 9 hole) 3. Now change the "-" to the new player's position (lets say it's SS) 4. The current SS in the lineup will have his "ss" change to "-". 5. place your new pitcher in that spot and change the "-" to "P" I'm not going to go back through all of the steps but you can do the same thing by first changing the position of the player where you want to put the pitcher to "-" put the pitcher there. Your current "P" will change to "-". Drop your new batter there and assign his position. One thing you cannot do is put the new pitcher in the actual "pitcher's box". You have to put him in the batting order and change the position there. When you do that he will populate the pitcher's box. Either way will work. Hope that helps. |

Ahhh. Always a great feeling when that WPA graph line takes a sharp turn to my side! This guy Boothe was shutting us down but he didn't have the gas to finish. We pounced on the closer, "mildly disappointing" the opposing manager. So sorry to disappoint him!
