Universe: Intercontinental/Taiwan/Pan-Am/Atlantic-Pacific

This Dynasty Thread will lead you through the world of 4 leagues.

Two of these leagues come from a OOTP19 universe

I added another in OOTP20

And now have created a fourth in OOTP21

As well as having the league built up from a childhood creation. The PBL.

But the PBL is in another whole saved game and is not involved in this, I almost added it as a competitive Major League, but wanted the PBL and it's history in the saved game more separate and not having a parallel universe of its own.

The Leagues?

THE INTERCONTINENTAL BASEBALL LEAGUE
-League type: Major Professional
*Prestige 10
- Countries with Clubs: US, CAN, MEX, PR(US), JAP,KOR,AUSSIE, RSA;New Zealand

THE TAIWAN LEAGUE
-League Type: Major National League of Taiwan (international)
*Prestige 7
-Countries with Clubs- Taiwan

THE PAN-AMERICAN BASEBALL ASSOCIATION
- League type: Independant
*Prestige 8
-Countries of Clubs: American-Canadian (no Latin despite name)

THE ATLANTIC-PACIFIC BASEBALL LEAGUE
-League Type: Latin Professional League (independant).
*PRESTIGE 5
-Countries of Clubs: Panama, El Salvador, Colombia, Dominican Rep, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Aruba, Venezuela.

Ibl structure

127 game schedule

No Interleague play as they are too global

Each team can have 5 international batters and 15 internationals total. Leaving each club with at least 9 players of national origin (full starting troup in theory) and 24-man roster.

I am quite proud of the set-up

Taiwan Baseball

I had made this league before Corona-CPBL fame :-)

Korea and Japan are well established, and Taiwan was a forgotten universe that I thought I had creative freedom to obliterate and reconstruct without it being an 'odd' baseball country.

So I made this league and really like the clubs but I find asian leagues are more difficult as the player names don't stick to me as western names do in really creating a mental picture of the league player profiles. They merge a bit. But still enjoy it.

In this recreated universe (TL was in my ootp19 version as a stand-alone)
I first created this league before any other and had the start in 1989, so it has the biggest history of the leagues in the universe.

They first 10-12 years or so, it had zero international players, then it went to 3 players from 1998 or so to 2003, then in 2004 it expanded to include 8 international players per roster.

Pan American Baseball Association

I have often created a US-CAN league as an independant league ..

The PBL universe has a Can-Am minor league in it .. which i will share here as well.

But this league has nice players, but this league will just be in the background really for me.

I won't really bother with logos and jerseys all too much..

I'll just stop by sometimes and see what was happening ..

This particular league was mainly just created by taking some defunct minro league teams I was familiar with .. and mixing it with the Old southern League (A league my dad talked about in my youth) ..

So it's kind of there just to be there.

PABA History Index 1997-2005

PABA is still young in the year 2006

Notice that the Taiwanese players were some of the early stars ... because in the game year 1997, there were only the TL and the newly created PABA

Atlantic-Pacific Baseball League

I look forward to sharing the team profiles for this league

It is my latest creation of leagues ...

I tried to avoid Mexico and Puerto Rico as they exist in the intercontinental league .. but ended up creating one PR team called the El Palacio Citizens.

I probably in the past would have created more Venezuelan teams, but will admitt that Venezuela has a bit of a bad flavor at the moment that I held them back from being a big part of the league .... so I created a PR team to fit int he ''Liga del Ocean''

Ocean league has won all but one championship titles. Of all teams, Salvador won the first title from the Costera League I have noticed and are made up of Dominican, Venezuelan, Aruban and Puerto Rican teams and so these are they better baseball countries in the league.
The other league (the liga costera/ coast league) has Panama, Jamaica, El Salvador and colombia.
Believe I have Jamaica and El Salvador in the league together so the weaker teams aren't just at bottom always.
I added many central americans with around 10-20 percent El Salvadoran nationality .. so some Mexicans are tagged as Salvadoran in the league as well as Americans...
Jamaica has Us, Canada, Bahamas, Virgin Islanders as potential nationals as well.

The league allows for only 3 international players ... so teams are made up of country nationals .. so helping El Salvador and Jamaica was important enough i felt to add something to the teams potential.

I look forward to seeing players go from one league and then to another ...

This is the IBL's first year, so I think the players will come from my lesser leagues in year 1 ... be interesting to see how it all works out when we approach the year 2020

2006 Game Preview /Team Summary

Pretoria Inferno: 13-22 5th East South Division

Pretoria lacks in almost every regard. Their top starter is 6'1 200, 27 year old Dominican with the name, Juan Lopez. He has elite stuff, above average movement and control. He throws all groundball pitches of Sinker Changeup and Splitter and is getting groundballs 68% of the time.

The other starters are South African Ivar Johannessen (below average), Aruban Alco Brugmans (below average across the board, but an elite circle change), and Australian Andy Kelly. (average movement and control; Cut, Chng, Screw).

Hitting is no more than 8th in nealry every category. The Inferno suffer from much talent, having to rely on their biggest talent: South Korean Young-myun Kim who seems to be struggling in the third hole. American Bret Boggs is hitting just around .200 but is slugging .473 still with his highly rated power in the fourth hole.

Leadoff hitter, Dominican Arturo Ferreira, is the clubs most all around player rating about average to slighly above average in nearly every skill. His scouting report reads:

''Dominican shortstop Arturo Ferreira was born in San Cristobal. He is very sure handed and reliable shortstop. He does a good job of working the count. He will produce a season of .270 ball. Ferreira is a very good player overall. He can play as a starting shortstop on any team.''

Auckland Foxes 20-15 1rst East South Division

The Foxes are within ranked 6th in every hitting category in the East Intercontinental League and middle of the road on the pitching side, not worse than 10th (Hits allowed, BABIP, and Strikeouts) and not better than 3rd (Homeruns allowed).

Texas native Kevin Wilkinson serves as the rotation's ace with electric stuff and top rated fastball, slider, and changeup to serve to the competition.
Nicaraguan Walter Bastian uses above average movement to use against opponents.

New Zealander Tommy Forbes is a really outclassed pitcher who only could hope to use his above average curveball and changeup to pitch to any effectiveness. South African Dylan Sutherland closes out the staff with mostly average stuff across the board.

Mexican Jorge Esquivel serves as closer and has worldclass stuff with above average movement with a top notch fastball. American Corey Scott is a top talent in the bullpen with slightly above average Taiwanese pitcher Yi-xiao wang pitches in the set-up role and Korean Yong-oon Park just qualifying as an average reliever.

The line-up has several to most players being able to make average contact with American Don Thomas being the hardest out and most solid, professional hitter from the leadoff spot with good on-base skills.

Thomas is followed in the lineup by a high contact lefty in fellow American Christopher Sanders. Mexican Pedro Helago has elite ability to place the ball into play but only has nearly average power.

Tim Simmons, an American who hits fourth, has the biggest hole in his bat in the first nine but also is an OPS stud with top power and elite patience.

New Zealander native Randolph Balgera is an exciting swinger in a copy of Simmons as a patient, power slugger.

Today's game sees Ace American Wilkinson pitching at home versus Aussie Andy Kelly. Wilkinson should really have no trouble topping Kelly and silencing the already quiet Inferno bats. Andy Kelly is actually a pretty decent fourth starter, but is facing a lineup that looks pretty confident at home.

Preseason Predictions had the Foxes on top by a wide 17 games, and had Pretoria in a better fourth and just under .500.

2006 Game Preview / Team Summary

Nagoya Bruins 24-11 1rst East North Division

For the Nagoya Bruins, they rely on 22 year old Australian Jerry Neal to anchor their rotation with his top stuff and control and especially through his southpaw change-up, sharpe curve, a slider with a hard bite, and a plus fastball.

Neal is supported by two Dominican pitchers, Claudio Castilla and Antonio Garcia. A 6'2 200 26 year old, Castilla offers big league stuff and movement but his control is not elite but more average. He is a junk ball pitcher with the use of a cutter for speed.

Garcia is a towering 6'6 33 year old pitcher with 5 years previous professional experience before pitching in the IBL. He has average stuff and pitches but is a flyball pitcher receptible to giving up the longball. The bullpen lacks power arms, but Dustin Smith is a big time arm at closer.

Nagoya's staff is first in the East Intercontinental League in base-on-balls and strikeouts and third in ERA and runs allowed.

Nagoya is practically first and second in every hitting category there is available to see. Only base-on-balls drawn and strkeouts are above second and that is only because BoB is third. The Bruins batters are 10th in strikeouts.

The Nagoya Bruins have a nice lineup of hitters. The hitters with top contact ability are Canadian centerfielder Nelson Rainville who hits leadoff and Ashley Innes a 30-year old Australian left fielder.

Native Ichizo Matsuura, Panaman Daniel Guillen, and South African Todd Moore are the professional hitters on the club with both above avergae contact and power. Todd Moore is the hitter on the club who provides the most power.

Australian catcher Wendel Ayliffe follows the middle of the order with great power and vision at the plate providing the team with a serious OPS tool in the second half of the order.

The Yokohama Wasps are in another class than the first place Bruins, but unfortunately this means they are suffering a 15-20 record and are sitting in last place in the East North Division.

Pitcher Jun'ichi Kiyomizu is a nice IBL pitcher, but unfortunately for the Wasps he leads the rotation with less than Ace stuff. Though, he iduces groundballs 60% of the time with an abover average cutter and change-up.

The Wasps are 8th in ERA and 9th in bullpen ERA. American Ed Williams serves as he closer. And American John Hamlet leads the team in innings pitched. Hamlet has above average movement but is considered to have below average stuff with several pitches in his arsenal, but nothing dominant or greatly effective.

The club's hitting has some ability but niether the right mix nor the right amount of production coming from the strength if each individual player.
Club's best hitter is by far Dominican Luis Martinez. But Martinez only produced one homerun in the initial month. With a line-up without many movable pieces, his production has allowed the team to be nearly last in most offensive categories.

Lead-off hitter Yoshi Sakai has a poor eye and is not an ideal at lead off, and third-hole hitter Kazuma Kamimura is an average big leaguer at best and is anything but a professional hitter. Along with Martinez, American Stanley Krantz can provide power and has hit 5 out as of yet. And veteran pro player and 38-year old Shuzo Kawai is leading the team in WAR from the back of the lineup with some production their to at least give the Wasps an even line-up.

In this game, Hamlet as mentioned is a strong second pitcher for Yokohama and Richard Lawrence is a struggling prospect pitcher at the back of the bruin rotation. If the Wasps wish to take one from the Bruins, this game seems to be the chance they would want with this match-up on the mound. If Lawrence can keep Martinez neutral however. Wasps may repeat their lack of success.
