Game Sale

I am thinking about picking up the game as it is at unreal price.

My question is can someone who has never played hockey or watched the sport much, pick up this game to have fun and/or be successful at it?

I am not looking to be someone who always wins, but with not knowing the sport the learning curve would be high. Just looking for some honest advice.

Thanks,

Define “not much “?

You might get some fun at that price but this game can get deep and fiddly at times. If you like text based sports management sims in general then give it a shot but if you’re unfamiliar with the sport and game genre I’d say skip it.

I play games in the genre. I play OOTP, FM and a couple of the Wolverine Studio games, so the type of game is not a problem. The sport itself is what will get me as I really don't know much about it.

If you can deal with OOtp and FM you should be able to navigate FHM.

I really wish there was a light QuickStart with just the essential leagues and players, as the hockey world is a bit different than Baseball or Soccer, err Football.

If you decide to make the plunge you can come back here if you have any questions and someone will usually be willing to help you out.

The price at the moment is very reasonable and well worth it imo.

Starting either a Custom Game with Real Players or Historical is basically that if you want to get your feet wet.

Great price to jump in and learn.

Picked it up, so once I get into it I will most likely have questions. Thanks for answering here.

Yeah but you’re putting the load of going through the custom game process. Are career stats even loaded for NHLers this way?

Anyway I think you underestimate the value of just offering a pre-made custom game as a pack-in quick start or light-start.
