I have posted this in the "Wish List" thread but wanted people's opinions that maybe don't know where to look for it.
I don't know if this has already been suggested but what about having to hire a manager for the big club like you have to hire a Hitting or Pitching coach. This could open up a bunch of options like keeping managers win/loss records, add a section to the record books for top managers, allow them to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Also could allow the promotion of your minor league manager to the big show (ie Eric Wedge) and see what he can do with all the kids or even look at someone else's Hitting or Pitching coach to become your next skipper and finally an old star player be hired to take control (Alan Trammell) and try to put butts in the seats. Even if only the basic part of hiring a manager and keep his Win/Loss record would be great. The game already allows this in manager mode but it makes it more realistic so you can see how you stack up against the great Sparky Anderson. And this would also keep the same manager from staying the manager for 100 years. |

I agree. It would also be interesting to compete against other managers in the league if you were playing in manager mode. I agree that this would be a natural extension to the progression of this type of gameplay, and would greatly enrich the experience.

Thats one of my favorite features with Cato's History utility. I now have a reason to name teams managers and monitor their stats.
But due to the fact that it is just a name to the game and doesn't actually impact the game..they are just numbers...it still adds a little something for me. I hope that someday we will have ML managers that are hired and bring their certain skills or lack of to the teams and league. |

Just hope that if managers are added, that they aren't lumped in with coaches/scouts. Argghh!!!!

Oh how I'd love to see this feature. Have been wishing for it for a long time. Can't wait until the next version of OOTP comes out.

I would love this. I hate managing and general managing in a vaccuum. I would like to have the to just GM instead of managing. I spend most of my time playing out month by month. It would be nice to have a manager that could take care of lineups and things while I worried about promoting minor leaguers, trade and contract offers and the like.
It would be nice to have managers that had certain tendencies (like the strategy options we have now) that were theirs alone, and weren't changeable by me. That way I could hire a manager that would best fit my team. If I want to rebuild, I would hire someone with patience and a great ability to bring youngsters along. If I had a veteran team that should be playoff bound, I want a good strategist that the veterans would play for. I would really like to see this implemented. Pleeeeeeeeeease?
