Anyway to block PC update while playing OOTP?
I play a lot and can't be at the computer for every minute of the day and some time's the PC will do a computer update while playing OOTP ruining that day's play.
Anyway to set up something to block the update without doing it when it ask's for a certain time then does the update anyhow,. |

There must be because I always get the option to update or not, or to set a time. Check for it under "settings".

Ugh! Sometimes I get them anyway, but when I start getting a ton of "Not Responding's" it's a given Windows is updating. Drives me nuts.

What about airplane mode (usually one of the Function keys)? Shut off the internet while you are simulating. Just one thing; make sure that the computer isn't already planning to do a just-downloaded update - check the Windows Update status. If nothing is doing, disable the internet for the duration. (Just remember to put it back on. Don't worry; Windows will not forget your update, believe me.)

Windows only does big updates once a month, second Tuesday. You can set "Active Hours" where it won't try to apply updates, which default to 9:00am-5:00pm, so if you play in the evenings it might try then.
But the real answer is just apply the updates when they first show up and it won't try to do them on it's own later. |

I think you can set windows to download updates but not install them until you are ready.

You can also delay updates indefinitely

If you are running Windows 10 Pro you can permanently disable Windows automatic updates via the Local Group Policy Editor. It is highly advisable that you make sure to manually update your system if you disable automatic updates.
If you have Windows 10 Pro and want to do this, open up the Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) and change the following value to "Disabled". Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update This should stop the updates from occurring. Unless MS makes a change to it. |
