What the heck? Where do i find players during the world cup

So, literally 13 of my 20 players are away at the world cup. What am I supposed to do for players?

What team are you with?

If you're in North America, you can likely call players up and/or sign Free Agents to Try Outs.

If you're in Europe, you need to call players up/sign a few guys.

I'm the Blue Jackets. Its my first preseason game after a bunch of signings. No point to preseason if I can't work my new players into their lines. The scheduling of that just pissed me off. I have no interest in simming my 1/2 star and 1 star minor leaguers. I'm trying to make the SC Playoffs. I'd rather just cancel the game.

It's exactly what happens in real life. It's important for you have a full roster (somewhere in the mid 40s for contracts) and you can be testing these players on your roster.

YEah, I'm just figuring that out. I wish there was a good hints video for this kind of stuff. Its pretty frustrating when you run into road blocks that make you want to start over. The only way i could get the game played easily was to let the AI refigure the preseason setup and one of the things it did was trade my best goalie.
