Something in Historical that should be looked at
So, playing my historical Sens franchise (started in 1992, I am now in 2010 offseason), there is a trend that has been creeping up. Every year, on July 1st, there are a few really talented young prospects that are put on waivers, and nobody else but me puts a claim on them (I have to assume I am the only one, since I've won the cup the past 7 years and should have last bid on players).
Last year, I was able to claim Brayden Schenn off waivers. This year, I got Tyler Seguin and Nino Niedereitter. A year before Bradyen Schenn, it was Alex Pietrangelo. That shouldn't be happening - those players at the time of being claimed are 17-18 years old and shouldn't even have to clear waivers. It feels like the game doesn't read their status correctly. Also, maybe it's correlated or not, but usually those players all have the "enforcer" player profile (Seguin the enforcer ? yeah, right...) so it "feels" like it's a placeholder of some sorts that doesn't get overwritten, or is somewhat the default assigned somehow. I understand the game is late in the cycle, but if there is going to be a FHM7 (which I sure hope there is !) then it would be great if it could be looked at for that new iteration of the game. If that helps, I NEVER see those type of players on waivers at any other point of the year, only on July 1st. It's as if there is something on that date that doesn't trigger right. |

Another thought occurred to me. Since those players are of junior age, but historical does not technically have junior teams, could it be the NHL team is trying to send those players back to juniors, but since those teams are not there, it puts the players in a state of limbo and they are put on waivers because the game doesn't know where else to put them (since they are too young for the AHL) ?

Well, 17 year olds should not have even been drafted yet, so I don't know why they would be hitting waivers.
I have a historical game with random debut that I started in 1967, and I am not seeing this issue. In fact, it's extremely rare for anyone to be waived. |

Waivers were very different in 1967. I should also point out that I am playing with teams getting the players they drafted in real life, as opposed to having a re-draft. |

The only way a 17 year old is eligible to be drafted is if he turns 18 before the next season starts. So those 17 year olds being waived in July 1 should either have not been drafted yet (so far in my seasons the draft is always July 3. Not sure how it is for you), or they were just drafted a week or two prior to being waived. |
