Avoid backing up

the game? I hit save as usual and thought I would also back the game up as I was halfway thru the season. When I did the program locked up. When I restarted the game and went to load the season it no longer existed even through it showed the file name? Is there a flaw/bug with the back up program or was I just unlucky? I'm afraid to back the game up now.

If you got the "not responding" statement up top and it appeared frozen it most likely was still working behind all that. I get that occasionally, especially when I have a medium to large universe. Be patient and give it a few minutes depending on the size of your universe. It should finish what it is doing and release control back to you. Other things may cause this as well but I am not an expert so someone else would need to chime in if this does not help in the future.

I am not sure, but you could check if you could put a ticket in to have them look at your league files and see if they can repair them. Worth a shot.

It was one half of one season so I wouldn't think the file would be that big. I gave it 10 minutes and it still was not responding. How long should it take?

Depends on your PC, the number of leagues/teams/players, and whether it is a first-time backup. Backing up the league for the first time takes much longer than subsequent times.

My league isn't big (24 teams, 3 levels of minors), but old (62 seasons), and on my 2018 laptop takes about two to three minutes to make a weekly backup for.

back-ups are essential to long term sims ..... somewhere somehow it's gonna mess up (or i'll mess it up more likely) and rather than start anew - those backups are life savers. my league has expanded and expanded to 60 MLB international teams with 3 levels of minors plus the IC. it takes a good 15-20 mins to backup most days (i back up and then zip copy that back up to an external HD). i make a backup every 10 game days, so if i mess up big time, i only lose a little more than a week.Recently i did something - lost my entire draft pool. Still not certain what i did or clicked inadvertently - but a backup from 3 days earlier got me going again. If it takes time, it takes time. But i feel they are essential especially for games that have gone on from earlier versions and have taken on a life of their own.

My problem is when I went to resume it said the file didn't exist and when I went to the back-up it said the file folder was empty?
