I bought one pack when I got the game a few weeks ago, just to try it.

Then I got 11 packs from the Twitch Drops and in those 11 packs I got one 87 Gold Player. Every other player was something like you got there, with some 60+ mixed in.

I always wondered, why I should buy packs, when I can get at least one much better player for the same points.

I'll take free packs from the Twitch Drops but I don't see a reason to buy packs for my points. Selling the cards doesn't even get you the value of one pack.

Anyway, just wanted to add my two cents...

The value of packs is in the extremely rare drops. Basically, if you open 500 packs, there's a decent chance that you'll get a couple cards that pay for the entire set. (It's not really that simple, but close to it.)

Of course, the game has absolutely nothing in it that will moderate the vagaries of luck, so you theoretically could get that massively valuable card on your first pack... but it's not unusual to never get it in 500 packs.

Personally, I think the odds are the number one issue with the PT mode of play. In a game that simulates opening packs of baseball cards, opening those packs should be fun. Instead, it becomes tedious and boring LONG before you're even close to having a complete set.

The odds are fine. When you give the good cards to everyone they arent good anymore, see the live collection rewards.

What needs to be addressed is how mindnumbingly tedious it is to manage a collection with lots of cards. Ive opened at least 10K packs in pt20 if not double that since you pretty much keep getting back what you put in over a sample of several hundred packs like you said. And thats with me quickselling every live card and only listing the good historical golds and above, I have so many duplicate silvers that it would take hours to try to sell them.

I normally try and wait until I have about 20 packs saved up from tourney winnings and then I open them in one go. At worst you end up with maybe 1 one gold and a couple silvers. I think the best run in a 20 pack opening I had was a perfect (Live perfect), 2 diamonds (1 historical/ 1Live) and 5 golds (3 historical). Today I got 2 live diamonds, about 4 golds (2 historical) and a couple silvers that were Live cards. I only ever have nabbed one Historical perfect in a pack and that was Bob Gibson. I have gotten about 8 Live perfects over the course of this year from packs, but nothing beats the feeling of nabbing a historical perfect.

This. I haven’t opened nearly as many packs and it’s mind numbing to deal with what I have on the auction house. This is the biggest change that needs to be made to PT

I've always been pretty unlucky with packs, especially the Twitch Drops. I will say that the past couple of days I have had some unusually good luck with the packs...I've pulled multiple HD Perfects along with a slew of LP and a nice mixture of LD and HD. I think this haul is going to allow me the funds to really bring my team to the next level. Maybe not this season but going forward.

- You open 24 Diamond packs after completing a bunch of (disappointing!) FOTF missions.
- Out of 25 Diamonds received, only 4 are non-live (so about half the expected rate) and none of them any good.
- Out of the 21 live Diamonds, none are likely to make the jump to Perfect (i.e. zero Arenado, Bieber, Diaz, Giolito, Lindor or Realmuto cards - literally not one.)
- 40 Historical (Hysterical?) packs yield not a single card above Gold, and none of the valuable Golds either (a single Negro Leagues card worth ~7K, that's it.)

Almost 13K packs in now, and this game still manages to 'amaze' me with these streaks of absolute trash, even from the so-called special packs.

My baseball player superstition has been pretty consistent at getting the following right...Opening your packs on the Friday after the FOTF missions are announced means those packs will be hot trash. I know, I know, it's random, they always have been terrible when I open them on these Fridays. But I will open 15 more standard packs in about an hour or so just to see if that still holds true. I had good packs yesterday and a few days before, but I already opened up 5 earlier and I regretted it and decided to wait a couple hours to see if my luck changes.

God, I hate duplicates within the same pack.

Preventing it is one of those luck mitigation measures that I think even a horrible programming team ought to be able to handle. Ought to be able to realize it's a good thing to add to the code, too.

I think the right way to do it would be to switch from an auction model to a stock market model. You could set it up so that any card that you've set an asking price for would instantly sell if someone has placed a bid that would meet your ask. There would be other advantages, too.

Basically, I shouldn't have to deal with every single f***ing duplicate as an individual card. They really are more like commodities. (This goes for the manage cards screen, too. Give me a line item for each unique card, not every duplicate.)

technically it's hard to complain when there is an element of luck but MY GOD - the packs have been HORRIBLE lately. Yesterday I opened 130 packs and got 7 golds and 2 extremely common live diamonds. I feel like I'm just feeding money into a paper shredder (and there are now certain players whose faces I hate with such a passion.....)

Dude, Fridays and the weekends nearly always have been terrible days to pull cards. Yeah, I pulled the only historical perfect card on a Saturday once but in terms of overall consistency the Fridays thru Mondays are hot trash card pull days. I gave each of those days a second shot recently to see if anything had changed in terms of my luck on those days...it didn't. Yesterday being a prime example out of 20 packs of just two historical golds (low AH value ones) and a 70 live silver. Everything else was bronze and Iron.
