Gale Sayers passed away

Read this morning that Gale Sayers passed away at 77 yrs of age due to complications related to dementia.

My childhood sports heroes are drifting away, and Sayers was without a doubt my all-time favorite athlete to watch. If you are not familiar go on YouTube and find some old highlight reels, he was beyond description.

Fast, agile, smart, determined, and just better than anyone else on the field with him.

I met him in Vegas about 7-8 years ago and had him sign a football for my dad. I grew up watching him and I remember my dad talking about how great he was - I don't remember much about the games just the time with my dad.

He was struggling when I met him and he had help with him but he talked to me and when I said the ball was for my dad he really perked up and we chatted for a few minutes.

A really cool experience and hopefully his family was able to spend some time with him before he passed.
