Bieber

How many people have gone out and snatched up a Bieber in the last week? Finally people outside of Cleveland get to see what this guy can really do. Just completely destroyed a top 3 line up tonight.

I respect that Twins line up which is what makes it even more impressive. Bieber has the stuff to be one of the top pitchers behind Cole, Degrom, and Scherzer.

He's absolutely pitching great, but with his rating at 92 already, he's not a great live speculation candidate IMO.

How about Maeda?

Had to throw that out there. Sure is strange watching games in empty stadiums.

Bieber has a negative FIP through his first 2 games. If he keeps pitching like this, then at some point his card would become a perfect. He starts at a 92, though, so hard to say how many starts it will take to get to that point.

True, but then I'll be able to sell them for 20k, instead of 4k.

I haven't been 'hoarding' Biebers like some players, but this update seems plain wrong to me.

Just looking at the stat lines of Bieber (first attached image; docked a point from 92 to 91) and Giolito (second attached image; bumped up two points from 94 to 96), and I have to wonder how:

- the way Bieber has pitched could ever lead to a decreased rating
- Bieber's performance can be judged as relatively worse than Giolito's (decrease vs. increase) especially keeping in mind that Giolito was already rated higher and thus should be held to a slightly higher standard

It also looks like J.T. Realmuto is not getting the bump to Perfect despite outperforming his ZIPS projection (.276 .333 .490 / .823 OPS) by a sizable margin so far: .290 .353 .677 / 1.030 OPS. This while already being the consensus best player at his position for some time now...
In fact, it looks like he may have lost one or more points of CON (I don't have a screenshot of his 'before' ratings so I may be mistaken here.)

Agree, most ratings adjustments were fine but several really stuck out as being based solely on projections rather than actual performance. I mentioned Gausman in another post getting boosted all the way to Diamond. Sure I guess maybe a small bump up into the higher 80s based on starts at pitcher friendly parks but still way more. I only have one Bieber and wasn't expecting a bump to Perfect by any means but not sure how you downgrade a so far dominate SP and upgrade a mediocre one with a bad track record.
