Question Question for packs-only teams

What do you do on a packs-only team when you complete a collection mission and get a Special Edition card as the reward? Keep it and play it, or sell it in the AH immediately? I know playing packs-only is a self-imposed restriction, but I was just curious on how others handle this.

Case by case basis. I run a pack team specifically to use guys that I wouldn't bother with on a meta team, so if I were to finish strikeout for the 97 Frank Thomas I'd probably keep it, because I don't have him nor have ever used him on another team. But, for any live series missions I'd finish them because I've used those cards on other teams.

I pondered this very question long and hard before I finally decided that the mission rewards came directly from packs, and therefore still met the pack only requirement.

That said, the only two I´ve kept were Walters and Guzman, both of whom have shored up a rather shaky bullpen. I must admit, it was tough selling Bagwell, especially when I had Mel Ott at first at the time, but with those points I pulled David Ortiz (not the FOTF, unfortunately) so it kind of evened out. Mainly I don´t want the cookie cutter guys everyone else has.
But I need one card to complete the White Sox, and I imagine Lyons will find his way into my rotation. One must be pragmatic with this sort of thing.

Yeah, anything that comes from opening packs is fair game. However, I'm not expecting to get a lot more from missions from here on. I completed the live missions about 7 weeks ago, but have got nowhere near any others that have big rewards. TotD aren't completely out of the question, but FotF are extremely unlikely for a F2P pack only team. I reckon I'm at least 100 times more likely to pull a FotF card than complete it's mission. It seems to make most sense to sell anything that spikes in value and just rip as many packs as possible! I've opened 400+ since Thursday and got Vida Blue and Lon Warneke - better than waiting months for a return.

keep it if wanted. it takes a LONG time to complete a LIVE mission pack only.

I have a packs team, but made the decision not to run any of the live series rewards cards because I didn't want a similar team to others out there (auctioned the rewards for more packs).

Other missions, however, I feel are more fair game, so if I do end up finishing them and those rewards are playable, I'd be willing to keep them to play. But that's just the semi-rules I set for that team when I started with them, everyone can do whatever they want with whatever self-imposed restrictions they enjoy.

I salute you, but I decided very early to use anything I could get! I've prioritized pack pulls wherever I can, but my bullpen and CF would be a disaster without the live rewards.

Case by case for me. I sell as many as needed to fuel buying more cards...but I hang on to the better performing ones. In my humble experience, the Longoria and Mathews cards aren't worth the paper they're...wait, they're more worth the 4k points immediately. I won't even auction it because of the proximity to 4k of the lowest bidding. Some of the others are well worth keeping until you're farther up the ladder...especially Bags and Ichiro.

Either keep it or quick sell it, only doing quick sells for now on occasion. Of course that'll change if I get an amazing extreme value card in a pack.

Personally wouldn't be too strict about self-imposed restriction...there are enough restrictions as is.

Quite funny. I decided to sell most of my diamond Dodgers, and about half an hour later I pulled FotF Roy Campanella.
