Historical League Question

I started a historical league in 1998 with real transactions and most settings unchanged other than division realignment.

A few years in I noticed that many international players such as Pujols, Ichiro, and Hideki Matsui were not showing up. I've fiddled with the settings but haven't been able to get them to appear.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I know this isn't a solution, but you can manually import them using there baseball ref ID's. Go into commish mode, go to free agent, go to the top right and select import historical player (or whatever it says) and enter that BBref ID.

I just imported the 1998 season (w/ real transactions) and simmed through the 2003 season. All three players you mentioned are accounted for.

Thanks for the responses. Since I changed the division structure, I turned off automatic evolution because it reset the divisions every offseason. I'm wondering if that led to some players not showing up.

That doesn't seem like it would cause it to me, but funky things happen.


I wanted to mention that if you do import those players, you can import them with the (IRL) stats they would have had in the season(s) they missed.


Edit: I think the database you select is called Historical_Database.odb I think

When you say they are showing up... are you looking for them on the team they should be on, or by searching for their name? I ask because you mentioned fiddling with the divisions. If you have the draft turned off, and players are automatically joining their team the season they debuted... then even a small change could make them show up as a Free Agent instead of being attached to their team. Could be something as minor as changing the abbreviation for Milwaukeee from ML4 to MIL in the team settings (or CAL to LAA).

So I loaded the backup and began the simulation again from the year 2000. Same thing Ichiro does not show up in 2001. Nothing comes up when I do a search, no free agent, nothing. It seems the other historical rookies are imported successfully in the offseason.
