Player self destruct

An SP in an online league has dropped from 70 overall/80 potential at age 27 to 50 overall/55 potential at age 28. What do you look for to figure out if he could rebound?

Generally that's a "never". On the chance my league had Vert Low Scouting Accuracy, and I'd seen players take that large a dip and rebound previously (I have not), I'd look for...

1) Did Velocity just take an increase in the period after the new lower potential was established?

or

2) If the potential drop could be explained almost exclusively in stuff rating... did he get a decent increase in Movement/Control at the same time? You can rarely get a couple decent seasons out of someone who lost their mojo on strikeouts via them getting spikes in other ratings... maybe a little Frank Tanana programmed in.

Generally though.. he's screwed. Trade him to someone who thinks he might bounce back . Bounce backs in OOTP are from players who have terrible seasons despite great ratings.

yeah one of those reasons why playing without ratings or minimal ratings is preferred...you won't see that ratings drop and just focus on the stats and wonder "bad year, or is this what I'm going to get going forward???".

Isn't that the truth. There are a whole lot of complaints that I never even though of voicing when I was playing 1-5 that have all now become "this doesn't seem realistic". Worse when I bounce it off what really happens and find I have it pretty good
