1960 expansion needs fix
So I started with the SF Giants in 1958, and now after the 1960 season, there's expansion -- except it's American League expansion. Historically, NL teams were not impacted by the AL expansion, instead waiting until 1961 for the National League version.
But OOTP wants my Giants to give up players in 1960, which does not reflect reality. I can tweak the options they gave so the Giants won't lose any players, but it is something that should be fixed by the developers. The 1960 expansion draft did not include National League teams; the 1961 draft did not include American League teams. |

Sounds like a bug, why not in the bug forum?

I don't use the forums much. Does it count as a bug? I thought bugs were software issues. This seemed more like a game-play issue ...

Hey gents,
Talked with our dev team about this issue and it regretfully is just too complicated of a restricted expansion to be able to be included in the game. There are just too many factors that would need to be included to allow that kind of expansion function to work without issue. Maybe down the road that's something we can look at reworking but in the current state it's not possible. Alex |

This is working as intended, though it doesn't match reality.

At one level, it doesn't change much, as each existing team will wind up potentially losing the same amount of players -- though Washington and the Angels get hurt by it.
At another level, though, it hurts the deeper franchises, who are likely to lose more players as their farm systems will be picked over twice rather than once. My solution was to up the number of protected players to 18 and the years in baseball to 4 so that it would spread the losses out a bit for teams like the Yankees and Cardinals. I did appreciate the quick response on this ... |
