Stolen Base Parade
Is stealing bases still just as easy as it was in version 19 & 20?
In my last v19 fictional season, I played out every game for my major league and minor league franchises, with 6 teams stealing 2359 bases out of 2808 for an 84% clip. My major league team stole 510 of 597 bases. I'm not even running up totals by stealing 3rd with 2 out, but just doing what is best to win games. As it is in v19, stealing bases is a major exploit. |

Not sure if I can help cause I don't believe in stealing and I only play out a couple dozen games per year.
But mlb totals at the end of the year have been relatively on par for modern mlb. Only player to go crazy in my current universe is mallex smith he had 80 which was double his real life amount. So simming seems like its normal. If the bug/glitch exists is must be in the playing out game part. probably 2 options either stop taking advantage of the exploit or keep posting showing numbers about it and hopefully it gets enough attention to get looked at and the exploit closed. |

I'm not talking about a bug or simming issues, but just mechanics when playing out games. The problems I see are these:
1. Steal & Run & Hit appear to have the exact same success percentages, with the exception of pitch outs, with a 100% chance to get the jump on run & hit. 2. Pitch outs can be 100% avoided if you avoid counts 0-0,0-1,1-1,0-2,1-2. 3. Pitch outs so rarely apply to stealing 3rd that you can Run & Hit at all times with no loss to percentage. 4. Double steals are 95% plus successful. A 50-60 (speed / steal) out of 80 is good enough for secondary runners, perhaps even less. With 65/65 guys or better. I'll attempt steals on the counts above and run & hit on the rest. Better base stealers stay on some of the pitch outs, which gets you into a Run&Hit count. Depending on situation, I may not attempt a steal until a R&H count to avoid the pitch out. You can also steal with anyone having a steal rating 65 or better, but it is a little harder to get jumps but percentages are still good on R&H. So, have there been any changes to this as far as anyone knows? My 37-year old shortstop broke the league SB record last year with 122, and he didn't even hit that well. I got two guys on pace for 170+ this year. . |
