Illegal Foreign Player Limit

How can this problem be solved? I am unable to advance the game because of this issue.

That's a team you control? Look through and make sure no one is assigned that was born in the US

or Canada or Puerto Rico.

if its a default mlb modern league that is. dsl is setup by default to not allow draftable country players in.

the default mlb setup draft is for usa, canada, puerto rico.

I have the role of GM/Manager for the Washington Nationals, and this is one of our rookie leagues.

Why doesn't the game automatically correct this, or give the player the option to do so? Why should the player be prevented from advancing the game for something like this?

If a pop up box is presented to the player, a link should be included which directs the player to the location to correct the problem and provides more detail on how to fix the issue.

Seriously, this is OOTP 21 and we are still having these kinds of things show up in the game. Not cool.

edit: all of the players on this team show their nationality as Dominican.

Default setup you aren't allowed to put a USA player in the DSL. You do get a pop up box saying this is an illegal move.

And I have never seen the AI move someone to the DSL that can't be moved there. Because that is why the prevention exists.

Something must be very strange here for you to get that error especially if you are saying they all are dominican. very very weird

I second this, I have never run across this happening and I have never messed with foreign player limits for any league in any save of mine.

I actually received this error in my Arizona Fall League but it was for Zack Burdi not a foreigner but he was out for like 6+ months. And the game kept spitting up an error.

Once I removed him then it was fine. I never brought the issue up. Figured it was some kind of error since the players are technically on loan.

DSL doesn't get loan though. 1 player must have some kind of glitch and this is the error that is just randomly popping up. That is my hunch.

Well that is really strange. Any kind of custom settings? Age limits, service limits, roster limits?

After several glances nothing appears out of the ordinary from the pic.

Upload the save game file to google drive or dropbox and I can load it up on my machine and see if I get the error. Then I can check it out for you in detail

Not sure you're having the same problem, but I ran into this issue when I tried to remove the foreign players rule in one of my leagues. I ended up having to turn it back on and set the limit to 25 to proceed.

No custom settings, or other limits that I am aware of...

The patch notes addressed that there was an error in the code that caused this bug. Make sure you update and check to see if it fixes itself.

I did apply the new patch, however, it did not resolve the issue. I still can't advance my game.

Matt - how about a response??

I did file a support ticket, but have not received a response.

The first thing I would double check is that the DSL actually has their foreigner limit and region setup correctly. Double-check that the region didn't get set to something weird, or the rule didn't get set to "team region" accidentally with your team listed in a different country, etc..

If that's all correct, then let us know again and we can dig a little deeper to see what might be happening.

I selected the DSL League > League Settings > Rules

the "Base Limit On" setting was set to League Nationality. I changed this to Team Nationality and this solved the problem. My game will advance now.

I never changed this setting or any others prior to this issue.

Weird it should be League Nationality. If you go to league settings and then league and teams what is listed for the region? It should inter-continental dsl qualified. Which is all the nations except for mlb draft ones of USA, Canada and Puerto Rico.

The same thing happened to me (though I didn't get an error message like the op did). A few days ago I was browsing through the DSL rosters and noticed there were players from Venezuela and Mexico on some of the teams.

I switched from league nationality to team nationality and it fixed the problem. (Intercontinental DSL qualified was selected already).

I didn't report the problem because I was able to fix it quickly and didn't really put much thought into it after that.

Venezuela and Mexico are fine. Its not 100% Dominican but it's all for foreign non drafted players. You don't want team nationality on because your scouting discoveries are from all over when they promote out of the complex they need to start in dsl the college rookie league go advanced for them.

Oh, I was under the impression the dominican league was restricted to just players from that country. That would explain a lot. lol...
