Minor league player ids not in correct format

So whose idea was that?

I want to batch import historical players from minor league master into a draft pool. Which I will do by creating a text file filled with player ids and year. Which of course requires the player id format used by baseball reference. Which the minor league master csv doesn't use, for some reason.

The leg work requires concatenating last and first names, which I am doing. But the minor league master doesn't include the the number. You mean there is no easier way to do this? I have to add the number manually to each individual player I want to create an id for?

Working, but...

Ok, so I have imported the historical players into my fictional draft pool, however they also imported their ages. So I have a 126 year old Howie Camp etc.

I did this by simply appending the current year of my draft to all the players entered into the pool, which obviously doesn't work.

I guess there is no way to alter ages of historical players on import, so they align realistically with the game timeline? Eg. import a 1888 player into 1999 year?

What do you mean? If I import Babe Ruth from 1914 he’ll show up as 19 the same year he was in the year imported

Am not following. I imported players born in the late 1800s, into a 2020 season, and they all maintained their original birth years. Hence my previous post about a 126 year old Howie something.
