Does firing personnel hurt their reputations?
Playing as GM of one team in commissioner mode.
I have badly wanted an upgrade for quite some time in how the game handles staff hirings. Namely that teams should be able to pluck other teams' staffs for promotions, regardless of contract status (i.e. hiring away another team's bench coach to be their manager). Since this is not possible, the effect is that good managers get hired in the low minors and then pretty much stay there forever. They're good, so their team keeps extending them before they can hit the open market, which means they can never leave and a potential legendary manager spends his whole career in the Pioneer League or something.
So lately, on the day after the World Series ends (which is the day before all the extensions would happen), I have taken to using my god powers of commissioner mode to fire most minor league personnel that is in the last year of their contracts, for all organizations, even though I don't otherwise control those organizations. It doesn't exactly make things work the way I wished, but it's better than nothing, and major league teams have a much wider selection with which to fill their openings, so some of these low-minor coaching gems finally have a chance to manage or coach in the show.
Does this have any negative side effects, such as hurting the reputations of guys that get fired? Anybody have any idea?
