Confused on Live Start Option

The setting in game: "UPDATE PLAYER RATINGS USING LIVE STATS" for OOTP21 .................does this mean that if I start an online league at opening day and as I reach May 1st in game date and I execute this function that it will possibly change ratings for some players based on their real life performance for that time period ? Can it be used and updated daily ?

I believe it will change the ratings on all players depending how they are performing this year .. it will update their ratings up to the date the option is executed .. if you use the live start option to create a game, it will start the game at current date with updated ratings & player stats ..
