Free Agent negotiations
When Negotiating with a free agent the counter offer is always higher then my original offer. Shouldn't they try to meet in the middle?

Why would they make a counter offer lower than your original offer? They would just take your original offer. Above your original offer and below their demand IS "meeting in the middle".
