Player bunts, fielder throws to second, safe, not scored AB?

So I've noticed this when a player (for me mostly a pitcher) bunts and the fielder who plays the bunt throws to second or third and the baserunner is safe. This doesn't get scored a hit or an at bat but a sacrifice. Is this accurate or am I missing something?

I believe it's a sacrifice, fielders choice. The pitcher still gets the sac as that is what he was doing. Everybody's safe on the FC.

Now, if it was the same scenario, but the hitter was bunting for a hit, the official scorer would have discretion to rule it a fielder’s choice, even though no out was recorded.
