Your OOTP 20 Display Settings
Hey Guys,
I posted this question in another sort of unrelated thread, but there is not a lot of activity there, and I wanted to get the community's read. It also could be helpful for folks who may have the same question. I am using a laptop this year, and with that smaller screen, I'm trying to decide which skin / setting mix is best on the eyes and readability. In 19, I just used the standard dark skin with the out-of-the box settings with my desktop and large monitor. So basically, putting aesthetics aside, which mix of skin and display settings works best for you in terms of readability? I know everyone is a bit different, but after playing for a bit on the laptop, I am starting to think that a softer tone option (like the OOTP Classic skin), with good text contrast, along with the readability settings (larger font size etc...), might be best. What do you guys think? |

Been a laptop user and dark skin addict for years. I’ll say this as a summary. You’re probably right. The classic skins reads more easily. But it lacks the mood for me; a certain reverence and depth rather than a newspaper appeal. The whole experience is worth examining.

Try them all. For me the dark skin gives me a headache and if that was the only one available, I would not play OOTP. Currently I am using the classic skin. Try different fonts but if you use one to big, it will take up to much space on your screen.

Thanks for the responses guys.
I have actually never used the Classic skin, but a few days ago, I was trying-out different display settings (larger font sizes etc...) along with the current Classic options and normal OOTP skin; it is also something that using over time may shed light-on, but I am leaning towards the Classic at this point with the larger font sizes etc...for readability and the easy-on-the eyes aspect. I think Bluenoser in another thread mentioned that the OOTP 19 Classic was the easiest for him to use. From what I gather, they may re-introduce that in another patch as an additional option. |

It comes down to personal preference. Best thing to do is mess with the settings and see which works best for you.
I have found what works best for me is Classic Skin and default font. Different resolutions will give differing layouts too. |

I play on a laptop as well. Granted, a 17" laptop, but a laptop, and I definitely prefer the classic skin and default font.
Everyone is different though, so by all means experiment to find what you prefer best. |
