Extremely Tight Wildcard Race

There are 4 wildcard spots and 7 teams in contention with 3 games left to go (except for Savannah who has 4).

The league format is 36 teams in 2 Leagues with 3 divisions (of 6 teams each).

This league is in 1944 and in the 44 seasons I've played, I don't think I've seen a tighter wildcard race than this.

Memphis and Raleigh made it, but the Hitmen ended up 7th in the wildcard race (81-81) after lose 2 out of 3 against Raleigh.

Memphis and Raleigh both got knocked out of the "Fantastic 14" (round 1).

I ended up facing the San Diego Sharks with my Oklahoma Sixshooters. The Sharks pitching staff was absolutely brutal and the series went 7 games despite my Sixshooters starting up 2-0. I had a stretch of 21 scoreless innings, but managed to win game seven 4-1.

It was a tough series as most of my hitters got shut down. Luckily, my rookie catcher came off the bench on fire. He had 0.1 war (92 OPS+) with 4 home runs in 73 regular season plate appearances. In the playoffs, he had 0.4 war (250 OPS+) with 3 home runs in just 20 post-season plate appearances. I started him over my veteran game 5 and he blasted 2 homers getting the game MVP honors. It's really making me consider ditching my veteran catcher in the offseason and moving on to the rookie.
