108-year old draft pick !(?)

Anyone else have something like this? Though, I don't know if you can REALLY call it a bug, because his ratings are pretty low, it probably needs a fix.

Hell, I think he's probably got a few good years left in him. I've seen guys play pro-ball till they are in their early 110's.

Anyways, Did you import this player from the DB?

Yeah, he does have that mean pickoff move.

Actually, this was a (computer-generated, I suppose) draft pick during my first season using G-Force's rosters. I have no idea how this happened.

I know the majority of people that are here are not Canadians but some of you are so this for them to remeber the old Rough Riders of the CFL and a chuckle to the rest

The Riders in '88 I think it was drafted a dead guy. maybe that is the case with him

I'll bet he certainly does struggle to field his position; the walker tends to get in the way. And Depends ought to help with that control problem.

That's funny I have the EXACT same guy! Name's John Mercer from Taylortown, 108 years old. I was even going to post about the guy here later... Weird...

Here's some background on my league...
Using TotalMinors 1.1 rosters. In first year of career play, 2003. I changed the amateur draft to July 1. I know the game says "Generating Amateurs" right after changing the date to July 1, but I don't know if Mercer was there before I changed the date too.

Yeah, every real Canadian sports fan knows about the dead guy draft pick.

My setup is exactly the same as unfriendlybob's, Gforce 1.1 rosters, and I changed the date of the amateur draft to June 1 (I think that is what he meant). Also, I'm in manager mode. Since this is mostly a test league (until the Opening Day rosters come out), I MAY have changed the draft date after the season started, but don't know if that would have made a difference.

Interesting, though, that there was a John Mercer with 1 career at-bat, in 1912, in real life, maybe he's mad he wasn't immortalized in a classic baseball movie like that Graham guy was so he decided to put himself in this game

Cool

I don't think this is a bug. I think this is demonstrates just how realistic this fantastic game really is. I mean, look no further than the actual major leagues--isn't Jesse Orosco a 108 year-old lefthanded reliever?
