injury.txt file change question

I play an 80 game fictional league and like to update the injury file so that certain injuries do not last as long, since I play a shorter season.

I thought I read that you can keep the injury file in a certain folder and it would then always use that one, instead of having to copy it each time you update the game with a new patch.

Does anyone know if this is true - can I make a change to the injury file and then not worry about re-installing (copying) it each time I install an updated patch?

Thanks!

Because patches are almost always full downloads of the game, you should always backup and replace custom files like these. They will most likely be over written by the defaults during installation of the patch.
