Team Doctor
Could you PLEASE implement a team doctor into the coaching/scouting staff?
I'm really getting sick of getting an email saying my player is going to miss an extra two weeks, then getting an email the next day saying he's going to miss another week, then getting another email a few days later saying he's going to miss another 2 weeks. This kind of thing simply would not happen on my team. I would pay top dollar for the best doctor in the league. It's really frustrating watching my players rot away on the DL. And of course, you never get the opposite email, "Hey, guess what! [Player] is recovering faster than I expected! He'll be back two weeks early!"

Cool. I would only hire guys who attended a correspondence course medical school.

I'd hire Doctor Nick.
"The coroner?! I'm SO sick of that guy!"

Doctors are the best. Ok, so they're the best so long as you don't have to visit one.... Seriously, a team doctor would be great.

Wouldn't it be great? Get the skankiest doctor available and mid-season get this series of emails:
--Joe Stud has a cold. He will be day-to-day for a week or more. --Joe Stud is getting better. I expect him to be back to full strength tomorrow. --Joe Stud has died from a staph infection. |

i wouldn't mind it if once in a while you got an email saying the guy was healing great and coming back early - actually at the rate that ootp5 sends those emails, i'd like to see it much more than once in a while

Please do not add a team doctor, or at least make it a separate option (to be either a part of the coaches/scouts, not automatically included).
Some of us play this as an actual baseball sim and do not need team doctors, first / third base coaches, and bat boys added to the already onerous task of running a franchise. Thank you, sttfrk.

But seriously...what I got from this thread is that it would at least be awfully nice and realistic if, at least every once in awhile, your injured player would actually recover MORE quickly than expected rather than take longer.

Hmm...
I've only played three seasons, but I've already encountered one e-mail by my team doctor that tells me a player is getting healthy sooner. He said something about the player healing one week sooner than expected. It may have something to do with the fact that I didn't put that player on the DL when he got injured (I was in September and just let him hang out with the others on the 40-man roster).

I foresee in OOTP24 where each player has a drop-down box of toothpaste and toothbrush brands he likes to use, as well as a slider to indicate how often he brushes. Gingivitis is a potentially devastating condition.
