P 405 Season 9 Jan 28
Well the Bedford Blue Lobsters thought they were going into the 50 point league. That didn't happen and I think the disappointment of management has rubbed off on the players.
So far it's the worst spring ever at Stamford Bridge a 2-7 start. It appears I may have over estimated my speed as the top of the lineup is stealing AND getting caught at a crazy rate, quickly snuffing out potential big innings. I think Dave Cones low control may finally be catching up to him as well but he was my Fav growing up (especially as a Jay) and I can't part with him. Nice to see a couple of the other 50 point hopefuls Louisville Colonels and the Silver Pirates (excuses if I missed anyone else). Here's hoping that it's just the cold April weather!!! |

My Colonels forgot how to play since yesterday, and they have also started slowly (3-7). I pulled a 96 Feller yesterday and sold it since he doesn't fit my pitching scheme. I decided to finally get that bonafide cleanup hitter and bought a 96 Ted Williams to be my full-time DH. The Spendid Splinter has started slowly just like the rest of my team. Maybe it is the cold weather.

Sometimes your team is just such a train wreck that there is nothing to do about it except shut it off and go to bed. If this is still going on tomorrow though, you might see a "breaking news alert" from Louisville. I am growing very tired of these slow starts and the roller coaster team performance. I can be a below .400 team with all golds and silvers. It seems that every time I make a change the team goes into a two-month funk. Well maybe it's time for a BIG change.

Officially my worst ever April in PT. 6-20 and that's with a few pre-season additions (upgrades???) I hope we can fill the Diamond 50 point league before next week |

Well after a 6-20 April the Lobsters are 10-2 in May. Just writing this i can feel a jinx.
Bob Gibson is leading the AC in ERA for a second straight year. |

Well, avoiding relegation is the goal here, anything above .500 is huge success.BTW what happened to Colonels? Last season they pursued WS championship but now are 8GB. |

That's the 64,000pp question! I have the worst bullpen in the conference, which is certainly a concern. I threw the rest of my points bank at that problem today, adding Satchel Paige and catcher Ray Fosse as a platoon catcher and late-inning defensive replacement. Otherwise, I just have a bunch of guys that are having down years so far. I really don't see much wrong so I think I just have to wait it out and hope for a strong finish to avoid relegation.

May Flowers
A great May has the Lobsters within sight of .500. Small goals!!!
A switch at the end of April to the small ball strategy paid off. Before this the manager had been hedging his bets (scared of sliders all the way in the blue). |

A terrible May with a 10 loss streak dropped the Squirrels under .500.
Since this is my most unpredictable team ( that once had a perfect month) I’m not losing hope yet. |

The Homers are finally checking in.
The team was doing well until I started tinkering a little too much. I'm hoping for a recovery today. |

Silver Pirates checking in. From making the playoffs via wildcard to fighting off relegation this year. Yikes.
Looks like Great Lake Squirrels, Silver Pirates, and Louisville Colonels are sitting next to each other in the wildcard table. So far away in the wild card race. Let's hope one of us can put together some wins and make it. |

It is crazy what has happened to the Colonels! Played them in the divisional series last season in P407 and lost in a great series that went the full 5 games, 2-1.
My Whales are having another strong season but having to fight off a strong Royce Runelords team who we can't seem to shake. Expect the division to come down to the end tomorrow. Most likely the team that doesn't win the AC West will be the #1 wildcard team. I was fortunate to pull the 97 Roy Halladay during the first month of this season. He proceeded to get thrashed his first two starts to start 0-2. Since then? 19-1! His era is back over 4 as that one loss he gave up 10 runs but otherwise he has been absolutely solid. Easily leads my pitching staff with those 19 wins (my 96 Walter Johnson is second in wins with 11). It's been a very balanced season as my team has won 38 games on the road and at home. I have never changed the ballpark factors so play in a neutral park. Don't know enough to feel comfortable changing them . I built the team in getting the players/cards I wanted (all historical) and have had great success. Good luck the rest of this season and I'm hoping that next season they can put a bunch of us that have added each other to a friends list into a league together. |
