Card Types & Player Ratings

This will be an easy one to answer i assume but couldnt find anything on my searches.

I see so many MLB Live Cards with high values that seem fairly cheap when compared against the same value card of Historical All Stars and All Time Legend etc.

Therefore, does the type of card weigh any impact on performance? Or does the game engine just look at their player ratings?

So should I just fill my team with cheaper MLB Live Cards or are the rarer more expensive cards worth chasing?

If there is a link with further reading, just fire it across and i will read up on it.

The most cost efficient way to build a team is with just LIVE cards. The game engine does not look at the type of card as far as I know.

The historical cards are more expensive because they are rarer. Also always look at the underlying ratings not just the OVR. Those are what matters and especially with historical cards it seems you can find players with insane underlying ratings where the OVR rating does not match up. These will be the really expensive ones.

So what is the icentive to buy cards other than MLB Live Cards. I know these values can change but we are in the offseason now for 3 months so people dont have to worry about this?

These cards tend to be cheaper and just as good if not better than other cards. I thought maybe the rarer cards were given hidden boost due to the card type with MLB Live cards being the worst.

Nope, if you are just looking to build the best team you should just buy LIVE cards. They are almost always the best value.

There's no extra boosts involved. However, there's a limited supply of live cards. For example, CF live cards you only have Trout, Cain, and Pollock who are 80+ cards. Not exactly a large selection to choose from.

Correct, you no longer have to worry about the LIVE cards changing in the 2018 version.

Absolutely, everyone should ONLY buy MLB2018 LIVE cards. Buying cards from any other set is not efficient. You will be crippling yourself because you will have one or two good players instead of ten for the same amount of points. So don't buy those historical cards. Let them rot on the shelf. Yeah, that's the ticket!

I take it that I should be doing the opposite of this then!

Oh no, you are doing the right thing. Buy the 2018 Live cards for the best value.
