If you owned Perfect Team...
What changes would you make?
First and foremost I would have no ballpark edits... In this game I think everyone should have the same ballpark dimensions. More accurate overall player ratings. If for nothing else to help the beginning player evaluate players better. |

I agree with uniform ballparks.
I would increase the quantity of historical cards and add common historical cards, so that the historical sets appear in packs in the same frequency as 2018 Live. I want people to have an easy time collecting their all-Expos or all-Astros team, and I want the auction prices of perfect/diamond cards from the historical sets to be in line with the prices of 2018 Live cards. I would correct the ratings for historical cards so that a 1970 Yaz pulled from PT would have the exact same ratings as a 1970 Yaz in a OOTP historical game. I would eliminate the Future Legends set as I believe that fictional players have no place in this game. There are other things that I want but I know they are either on the drawing board for next year or technically impossible. Tournaments would be #1 on this list. |

Ballparks and coachs as collectible cards, that will add some strategy to the game via card.

I'm with Orcin on the historicals. Historical commons would still be fun to pull out of a pack. Oooohhh! A Tom Lawless!
I would really like to see more normalized defense ratings for pre-WWII players, too. It seems like every OF from that time period has the same defensive ratings (mediocre range, bad error rate and cannon arm).

Variation in ballparks is part of the game. Always has been. You can only change once a season, and that's reasonable. Not all of us want cookie cutters...but it truly sounds like you're advocating for Three Rivers in every city. Ugh. Boring.

Same thing I'd do with regular OOTP - make everyone stop what they're doing and work on my personal projects.
1. Card list with exportable ratings for all players in the universe. 2. Improve AI on the strategy settings (defensive substitutions, pinch hitters, rotation, etc working properly) 3. Get replay working correctly (mine won't match up the words with the play and hangs until the play by play finishes) 4. Allow editing the home page (my screen won't show the recent achievements box) 5. Re-sort the ratings in all places so that they are in the same order everywhere. 6. Allow all defensive ratings to be seen on all cards in the auction house. 7. Add a notice that shows recent achievements that you accomplished since your last download of the simulation. Right now they're hidden away on a different screen. There seems to be no celebration for achievements. My pitcher pitched a no-hitter and...just another day. There was a news story but I want to see a pop-up or something! 8. Increase complexity of lineup settings - allow starters to be subs for other positions or defensive substitutions in case they sit out a game. |

Better than playing in The Coliseum one series and Baker Bowl the next.

No what I think he is advocating is for the players atributes to actually mean something and not the ball park effects it has like a pinball machine.

Yeah, I gotta agree. I love that the ballparks are customizable. In addition to spicing up the game and being completely realistic, it also helps players who put thought and effort into developing a cohesive team strategy.

And it's not like the limits we impose allow for massive deviations. 10% up or down are enough to add some flavour, but not enough that I think I would even look up a stadium before a series to adjust my lineup.

I do have a question about the ballpark factors. If you set doubles and triples at 1.5, what do those extra doubles and triples come at the expense of? Outs, singles, home runs or all 3?

All of you are free to make your own card-collecting baseball management game.
Just don't forget to fork over six figures or so in advance to MLB and the MLBPA for various licences.

I do it all the time. That 10 pct might surprise you how much it matters when you have different types of subs. Remember if you have a 300 hitter and one is left and one is right it can be the difference between a 270 hitter and a 330 hitter. That is a big difference to me.

It would've resulted in a very different game, but I would've designed it so that players aged. Draw a 35-year-old Pete Rose card, next season he's 36-year-old Rose with the kind of changes in performance we see in "regular" OOTP.

It helps players who don't have to work Monday mornings. I'll never be able to adjust my ballpark, unless they change the timing of it.

If I owned PT, I would make it so that no cards ever changed. No starting pitcher would see a change in Stuff when forced to be a Relief Pitcher. No player could learn how to play a different position. Make the ratings we see be the actual ratings, with no hidden gimmicks and tricks to alter them and make them better.
This suggestion has been brought to you by my infield of 4 shortstops and a second baseman in centerfield ![]() ![]() |
