Will cards be Nerfed or Buffed at some point?

If OOTP starts to see certain cards over or under perform, will they modify the cards or patch the game so that they perform as intended? Because it seems to buy the best cards (ive given up on packs RNG...way too low) its going to cost a good amount of PP and I dont want buyers remorse due to being hit with nerf bat.

Every card gets nerfed when they face harder and harder competition. That's one of the interesting aspects of PT.

The card ratings are based on actual performance (except the abominable Future Legends fictional card set). So there is no reason to change them unless an error is discovered or there is a policy change (such as no LH throwing shortstops).

I think I'm in the minority, but I really like the Future Legends. I hope that's a category that they don't do away with.

Don’t worry, they won’t.

I like the concept of them, but they should form a nice little subcategory like one hit wonders or something. They shouldn't be among the best players in the game until they've proven that they belong there IMO.

That's a fair point. I'm probably not too well versed on most of the prospects, so it's been nice to learn a little bit about them, and I usually play fictional, so I guess there is that appeal. And it does bring me back to when I used to collect cards, and I'd learn about future stars that way.

My argument this year would be if they were toned down nobody would use them, but if we had a future stars tournament in 20 so they'd have some use they probably should be toned down.

I don't like speculative cards. A card where someone is guessing how well a young player will perform in the future seems silly when there is 100 years of actual baseball history to pull from.

I can't wait for them. It's a lot more than guessing.

Like what else can it be but guessing? I am not arguing or complaining because it would not matter if I like them or not being as they are going to happen. But how would you figure out the future without a lot of guess work involved?

Perhaps observing and evaluating the players talent? If this game existed in the early 80's I would have had absolute opinions on the potential of lots of players as I watched many many games.

If this game existed in the early 80's we'd be seeing Joe Charboneau, Ron Kittle, LaMarr Hoyt, Dave Stapleton, and Glenn Braggs given similar attributes to inner circle Hall of Famers. People would be paying thousands of pp to have "Future Legend" Rey Quinones manning their infield.

It's hard enough to provide accurate ratings even for historical players, much less guys who haven't even played yet.

Well there is a lot of work involved, like everything else in this game. You find young players on the verge of breaking out. I'm sure Vlad Jr.'s ratings will rise throughout the season for example, unless he's overrated to begin with.

Imagine if there were a next Mike Trout who kind of came out of nowhere, rated 68 to start the season and he became a diamond or perfect. That's a brand new aspect to the game. And it'll be exciting to watch happen.
