Forum Days Almost Over
I'm debating whether to return to forums to read post. I'll come for updates though. Just a day ago there was a flurry of chatter about being too easy to get a good team. Now after a few tweaks people who are getting a few packs are complaining about not good enough players. Kinda depressing hearing the crap bubble. I'm pretty sure the PT team are working their butts off (and worrying themselves crazy) to get everything just right, but as I remember we still in BETA. I too have collected quiet a team, but it feels kinda stale because it was kinda easy. I don't know how things will turn out later down the line but I'm excited about starting new. I personally think there are not enough of the everyday regular ballplayers from present backwards through time. I'm a White Fan, but I wonder if every White Sox player since say 1940 is in the game. I just don't know. I'm mean is Carson Fulmer of 2017 in the game along with of his dreadful 2018 card? Just thinking out loud. I mean in regular OOTP playing I can access nearly every players from history...Anyway, it's getting late got doctors appt in morning. Good Night

Once the dust has settled everything will return to normal.
Right now the discussions about PT are pretty heated ... "too easy to get a good team", "players not good enough", "guys will buy success", etc etc. But I really think things will calm down once everything is re-set ... right now a lot of users are testing the system (that's why we have the beta) and discussing (and complaining about) certain points.

Those three and "X is cheating!" are always going to be a sizable chunk of forum posts in any online game. The only thing that might change is the overall volume...

No worries, there will alwayws be complainers, no matter what we do. I don't care, I have grown a very thick skin over the years. What I do care about though is constructive criticism, which is not a waste of my time

Most of the negative nellies are non or semi-regulars like me. There's an uncommonly large amount of people here with <300 posts.
That's what my name represents - I'll post on one topic which interests me (usually something that I think needs work), and then go back to internet oblivion for 8-24 months as I play other games or follow my own solo league. Regular forum chit-chat, like discussing whether the term 'PP' is triggering to me isn't really my cup of tea (no offense to anyone there). Since I'm into PT currently and feel that the direction (and strategy) of the game is still malleable, I've stayed here way past my expiration date this time. Once the storm around the initial release wears off, guys of our ilk will disappear and things will get more peaceful around here again. That said, if everyone was always in agreement with the devs things would be: A) Insincere. No game in development for 20 years is always going to match your own vision of what the game should be. and B) Unhelpful. If players don't come on and say what they feel is missing in a game, then the dev can't make a reliable roadmap for future development. But this is a discussion which has been had, wow... literally over 1,000 times on these forums through the years. Would that be right, Markus/Lukas? I'll not comment on it further because I know where these conversations usually wind up. Last edited by One Post Wonder; 11-21-2018 at 11:58 AM. |

Though I've thought this too. In a future version, have every ballplayer in history available, in every year of their careers? There would be no topping that!

Why stop there? Why not have every single current minor league prospect? Or even better, every single minor league prospect ever!

Every single ballplayer that ever went through the majors is available in OOTPB - in fact, many/most of the minor league ballplayers are there too. However, this is a card collecting game and a database of cards that large is just impossible to ever complete. So, the current plan to have 2-3 thousand interesting cards is the best way to go for PT.

How many players do you think will try to collect all of the cards? My thought is that the percentage would be really low, like maybe 1 player in 50 or 100 at most. |

I don’t know why anyone would complain about anything. All this is about (OOTP)is having fun and I for one am having loads of it. If this is our biggest worry....... well then.........We are a very lucky group. I wish all a very Happy Thanksgiving wherever you may be. Let’s just take a minute and realize how lucky we are and be thankful for that. I am even Thankful that I discovered this game a couple decades ago because it truly has brought me so much joy through the years. Happy Thanksgiving all....

Initially I was not interested in PT at all ... and now this stuff delays my solo league for an uncertain amount of time

Add a few fictional favorites such as Roy Hobbs, Damon Rutherford, or Crash Davis for leavening.
