Long auction times a waste of time?

The players auctioned off for a day or 1/2 a day seem to be a waste of energy and time. If I bid on this player my coins are gone, until someone outbids me in the final minutes of the auction. Especially those long auctions without a reasonable buy now. Shorter auctions and reasonable buy now prices are better. The long ones are a waste of time and energy.

It's up to whoever wants to put them up to decide what they want to do. The longer an auction is on for, the more chance someone has to bid on them. But that being said, if I see an auction that's 8+ hours away from finishing, then odds are I won't bid on them.

Personally, I like throwing a decent auction time (6-12 hours) to make sure people have a chance to see guys, but also set a "buy now" price that I think could be enticing. To me, that is the best of both worlds, since there's a chance that someone won't want to wait and will simply pay the top price, but if not, there's a lot of chance for someone to bid on them.

So, if you don't want to bid on the guy who's on a long auction, take a note of them, and come back when the auction is closer to finishing. They might still be there, or they might have been bidden up and you can look elsewhere.

Long auction times are good for those, like me (I/m in Australia), not in the US to get auction end times to match with when more snipers (I mean users) are online ready to bid.

I like to time my auctions out so there are no other auctions of the same card that end around the same time.

I routinely use 24 hours so that everybody has a time of the day to see what I have on the block. The more bidders I reach, the more chance I have a good chance to sell nearer my buyout price. I also make a reasonable buyout for the particular card. That way anybody that wants to take the plunge can do so without drastically overspending and my card sells.

I have no facts but I would guess US prime time, just like the TV.

Truly watching the auction house, most bids occur in the final hour. .

Long auctions without a reasonable buy now, tend to be a waste of time and resources.

You can set custom times in the auction house already! It's one of the drop-down options you can select, and then you're asked to enter the time (in minutes).

That is a choice by the players to bid in those final moments. As a seller though I want as many people to see that item as possible. I want as many bidders in that last hour as possible.

Not everybody checks the auction house every 30 minutes or an hour so as a seller you may miss that one person who would overpay for your card simply because they never had the chance to see it because it was only available for 30 or 60 minutes.

How many auctions would I miss because I am at work 9 hours of the day or because I sleep 7 hours a night?

Yeah, I saw one guy post a peak Larkin for 15 minute auctions in the middle of the day. Yeah, I bought him eventually after he was posted a few times and the price dropped to just below the cash I had on hand, but I can't imagine a ton of people saw him listed.
