Gold vs standard

What are your thoughts?

Bought 2 gold 11 standard

Gold pack 1
JD Martinez 86 ovr (new DH)
2 bronze
3 garbage

Pack 2
Jeff Bagwell 80 ovr (possible new 1b)
1 bronze
4 garbage

Standard packs
Aaron Judge 94 ovr (Cant have Yankees on my team)
Robinson Cano 84 ovr (Cant have ex Yankees on my team)
9 silver
15 bronze
Rest garbage

Cano, judge, silver. And bronze in 1 pack

Standard packs seemed loaded when the beta first started, but the odds have been levelling out for sure in the past few.

I have yet to buy a gold pack, only standard, but last two standard packs have had no card better than a 61 bronze, so off to the auction with my next batch of points I think.

Yeah it does seem like the standard packs are not quite as bountiful as they were a few days ago

I pulled Babe Ruth this morning from a standard pack after I had sold Donaldson overnight that I pulled yesterday. It is just luck.

The AH is a good place to build your team. I have been buying and selling every day since Monday morning when the leagues started. It is getting a little harder as more people are using it. But it is still working. If you are waiting with bated breath at your computer between games for your team, you may as well use that time to peruse the AH for deals and steals for your buying and selling. Granted I am retired and have more time that most and I use it to make up for less money.

P.S. I have zero reserves on my team as my strategy is to sell everything I am not using.

same here, bought 5 packs standards, out of 30 cards I had one that was 79, all low 60's one only in each pack.

It's been awfully nerfed.

Technically the odds are the same between standard and gold packs, it's just that standard guarantees a bronze card, while gold guarantees a gold. So ultimately it's up to you whether that extra 4000PP is worth a sure-thing gold.

Personally, I'll take having the extra chances at a diamond/perfect, but I can understand the appeal of a sure thing.

Ultimately, what you will want is not Gold cards. You want Platinums and Perfects.

Standard packs give you a five-fold chance - on a per-PP basis - to get those. Nuff said.

If you want gold cards, you are better off buying those at the AH. You can get 2 for 5K if you shop.

You can even get five if you're not picky and show some patience. I currently get 11 pages of Golds, 2 1/2 of those going for 1,000 PP. I'd say you can definitely get four lower-end Golds, or two on the high end.
