Unsigned free agents increase demand on opening day
Not sure if this is a known issue but something I noticed after simming through the offseason in my current year. I was in deep need of relief pitching so I was aggressive early with a couple of top targets. I signed them by the end of the year and kept my eye on some higher priced talent hoping they would drop demands through Jan and Feb if not signed. As expected the top tier relievers dropped from 17M per for 4 years to about 8M over 1 year by the time spring training came (for some reason there are 5 top tier closers in free agency this year with apparently no demand). Opening day rolls around and I look and there are still a few left and they have increased their demands back to their original demands from the beginning of free agency (17M per for 4 years). There is also an international 1B free agent that was asking for 15M for 6 years that went down to 7M for 1 year but now his demands are even higher at 17M for 6 years on opening day. Anybody thoughts?

Teams tend to wait until the last minute and then try to sign some of these guys. They bid against each other and drive the price back up

Ive noticed that as well. Players sit there unwanted like a fat girl at a High School dance, but as soon as I make an offer, 5 other teams want him.
