Nation Number 3?
The online manual says it's South Korea. I've replaced all the names in the name file that have a ,3 at the end with fictional names. When I generate a player from South Korea, however, they still have Korean names. Anyone have ideas?

Did you reload the names file? I can’t quite remember where the option is but you need to do that before the revised names will get applied to your league.

I have. I reloaded the names file and the world XML file. I don't understand how it is getting Korean names even though the only names in the ,3 in the names file are the ones I put in there. Closed the game down, re-edited the file, loaded again, still Korean names instead of the fictional ones. I even tried using different nations and it doesn't like any of them--but it's still fine with the ,2s I substituted for Japanese names.

Yeah, I don't get it. It's reading the ,0s and the ,2s, but not the ,3s. Going to try adding one ,1, but I doubt that's the problem since I haven't had any ,1s before.

So, I was able to have some luck with this. As it turns out, the page in the manual that talks about this is a little out of date, but it still worked for what I needed.
I'm going to assume you're trying to do this for a saved game that already exists. Here's what I did:
![]() So, I think this process should work for you. Let me add, this will NOT rename any existing players in your game. It will only work for newly generated names. However, under Game >> Game Settings >> League Settings, there is an option in the lower right that will allow you to randomize player names. If you do this after doing the above, it should work. Give it a try, and feel free to PM me if you can't figure it out!

i have had similar issues and have learned if you want the correct names you have to start the whole simulation from scratch before they take effect
as I have tried to load the names in and it refuses to stay. So I gave up on it.

Hmm. I literally JUST did it in the middle of a simulation...

Battists,
Thanks. Those were my exact steps, and I've done them repeatedly. When I back from traveling, I'm going to try something radical, like delete everything in the file (I have all my names backed up elsewhere) and put like three names in for each of three nations and see what happens. My suspicion is that I have a corrupted or illegal character in there somewhere, since I ran scrub macro to get rid of names with certain character strings. |

If there is somewhere you would care to post your League files and name files, I’d be happy to be a second set of eyes.

on a semi related note, "Ill Young Steve" sounds like a pretty sick rap name.

I figured it out. I was editing a different file than the database was pointing to. The correct one is in the C:\Users\....\database, and I was editing C:\Program Files\...\database. All is well with the world now.
