Hidden Ball Play!

I kid you not. In my Alternate history league, the Mets are battling for the Pennant late September (1980) against the Cardinals. 102 wins each about 6 to go. Low and behold Dave Conception (Mets) hits a triple.. and is out on the Hidden ball Play.. I did a double take. I don't believe I've ever seen it happen except maybe Little League... Anyone else experience this ever???

Just saw it the other day on what appeared to be an attempted pick off at 1st when watching the 3D play out, but was described in the text as a hidden ball play by the first baseman to get the runner napping.

Yes, I had it happen in a game on a triple as well. It ended up being the difference maker in a one run game where the next guy up singled that would have scored the tying run.

Thank God I was the beneficiary of the play, cause if it went against me I may have thrown my laptop off the back deck!!!

Not yet. Turned a triple play and had one turned on me this season but nothing as odd as the hidden ball trick yet.

Ha! Yeah I had a really promising rookie I was excited about come up after coming through our farm system for years, and in his first at-bat hit into a triple play... welcome to the bigs, kid.
