MLB 2018 Quickstart Settings (Comissioner Mode)
Hey everyone!
I am about to start a new save and am wondering what everyone adjusts to make the game more realistic. I have seen some stuff on changing the trade values, different weights on options, editing Market Sizes etc. I play Comissioner Mode strictly so I can add another Rookie league team if I need to so I haven't really utilized being able to adjust those. Any tips/hints/tricks for the most realistic settings is greatly appreciated. |

I just play on challenge mode and add service time and roster limits to the minors based upon the MiLB.
If playing with all the leagues I delete Cuba and Australia as they are bugged and produce MLB quality draft players. Plus Cuba can't defect and has no financials so not really needed at all. |

Honestly, the closest you can get to realistic is default settings. Anything else is personal preference.

Only change I personally make is injuries to high (realistic modern day) along with slowing aging and increasing development a bit (to counteract injuries, more young players that are MLB ready, etc.), changing the market sizes, and MiLB roster and service time limits. Everything else is more or less personal pref.

Aging: .750 Lowered aging so players can get longer into careers (mid 30s-40/41 for great players, thats what I see the MLB becoming) and to counteract my injury setting. Development: 1.15 Upped development so that more young players (20-22) would appear in the majors, and to help with depth to counteract the injury setting. TCR: 200 I saw others suggest this, and really helps make the draft a crapshoot after round 5, helps with later round steals and prospects who just get it to "click." Injuries: High (Realistic Modern Day) MiLB Roster Limits roster limit/service time AAA- 25/... AA- 25/... A+- 35/5 A- 35/4 Short A- 35/3 R- 35/2 GCL/AZL- 35/2 DSL- 35/3 These limits are the exact same used in real life Minor League Baseball (note that High A has an active roster of 25 with a max of 35 which cannot be replicated, hence why I went with 35 active). Market Sizes Quote:
Everything else is basically preference. For example, I'll play with AI Evals at 0/50/25/25 because I want strictly stats for evaluating ratings and I read that makes the AI play smarter. I might also play with trade settings at hard or neutral/average or (heavily) favor prospects. I'll also play with all international leagues and independent leagues (there's 2, soon to be 3 independent teams that I like) and I prefer to have players that will feed into the MLB have stats. And of course, dont forget to use my ultra-accurate 2018 MLB Jerseys for your quickstart (caps a work in progress)

I made a couple of changes to this list...but it seems to be pretty good, and works well.

If we want to keep your same scale of highest market size at 10 and lowest at 3, then we'd end up with something like these: 10 Yankees, Mets 8 Dodgers, Angels 6 White Sox, Cubs, Blue Jays 5 Nationals, Phillies, Athletics, Giants, Red Sox, Rangers, Braves, Astros 4 Mariners, Twins, Tigers, Diamondbacks, Rays, Orioles, Rockies, Marlins, Indians 3 Padres, Cardinals, Pirates, Royals, Brewers, Reds I bet you'd get a lot more realistically proportioned revenues to real life, but you'd have to use the income revenue sharing function (IRL they share 31% of "local income") or things would get hugely out of whack. I might try these numbers out and see how they go. |
