19th century player photos found

I have attached one example of what I found on the net, however I am not good nor have access anyway...to a photo editing software application.

These photos are team photos and need to be cropped and cut for each individual player, can someone help?

can anybody help me crop their heads off or point me to an inexpensive (hint:FREE) photo editor that will work?

Also why is this photo not showing up in the thread but instead is getting downloaded?
