Is purchasing contracts from indie/unaffiliated leagues a huge human advantage?

I could see it becoming a scenario where the human player snaps up decent prospects the AI ignores while the AI throws spare cash at filler or just doesn't use the feature, is that the case? Also, what are good financial settings so indie leagues have the occasional worthwhile player, without really competing for free agents MLB clubs want?

I could if i wanted to purchase players from my IBL league but from my experience only a handful are more then a AAAA quality player including the guy with 72 HR last season. Walalce i could get but I also own this team and plan on managing them someday so i want to keep him where he is but even he isnt that good (clone of Leon Durham?)

And does the AI ever snap up contracts? Also what's a good financial configuration for revenue and contract baselines?

Same here, although it seems to be teams that are out of the race more often then not.
