Why can't leagues other than ML have associations & combined playoffs?

I would really love to have a HUGE minor league playoff. But it's not possible since only major leagues can have associations. What gives?

Could you set up a tournament with these teams? I haven’t played around with it to see if you could include minor league teams in tourneys.

Associations were a big deal when they were announced but I don't think much work has been done on them past the first year.
So much possibilities, so much not done

At the very least I want to recreate the Triple-A World Series.

Yes but you have to manually specify the teams. Is a pain to do it every year.

Instead of playoffs I would rather see a tournament option(I guess it could be done if you decided on no playoffs).

Usually my playoffs are a giant mess (70 teams) and never works as planned.

So I think I found a workaround to have association playoffs for non-major-league teams. I'm using the World of College Baseball quickstart. He had all the college conferences listed as "Major League" as their league level. He also had them in a playoff association.

I switched their league level to "College" and noticed that they stayed in the association. It didn't kick them out. So that may be a workaround. Have them as a major league team, add them to the assoication, then change them to whatever level they actually are.
