Need nickname for expansion team.

Putting team in Atlanta and San Francisco (well sort of)

The Atlanta team I will name the Stone Mt. Rebs (in reference to the Confederate Memorial)

The San Francisco team I need help with. Truthfully I am going with a combined Oak-SF Bay Area team. So I will call them the Bay Area _____

I thought about Gold Rush (but that seems more perfect for football, and am not sure how much I want to reference the California Gold Rush, given the real life SF 49ers in football, but it could work as a standby). I would also like ideas for team colors if possible with name suggestions.

I've suggested this to someone on here before for a SF-area team... Golden Gaters (or Gators)

Colors? Hmmm.. I'm thinking something with gold in it. Maybe add some green for the gator angle.

You could use Earthquake if you are not superstitious about naming teams after disasters.

Maybe Redwoods if you want to go after a more granola feel.

Anything related to fog would probably work well too, like Foghorns, Foglifters, etc...

How about The Bay Area Seals, I'm a fan of using pretty basic names for baseball, it seem the more exotic you try to get,the harder it is for the name to catch on.Devil Rays is a prime example here.Once it was shortened to rays, the name was much better received. For a color scheme,I would go home white, with navy and dark orange trim with a navy cap and orange S on the cap(think houston colt 45's)

The San Francisco Seals, incidently, were the PCL team that Joe Dimaggio played for.

To me that now "seals" the deal HaHa.You get a tip of the cap to the past while still keeping the name fresh.I like it.

How about the San Francisco Bay Bombers. The bay was an important resource and military stronghold from colonization to the development of the west. Colors- Black, Grey and Dark Red.

I used that as the SF nickname in one of my fictional leagues - even had a psychedelic logo for them.

I vote for the Seals as well. That was the name of the very short-lived Oakland hockey team back when the NHL expanded 40 years ago.

Well, I already have a team called the Bombers. Though I do like the color scheme so, I might keep that for later.

Hmmm, Bay Area Bombers the more I think about it seems the best. (though I like Golden Gators and the Fog as #2 or #3). I guess I could pull a Washington and move the team and replace the departing team with the expansion team. (the orginal Bombers arent exactly tearing things up of late in the finance dept. so it would be semi-legit)

So any idea for a Tacoma franchise, then? (yeah, I know you have a team in Tacoma but not in SF)

The Bay Clippers (you could use either the ship or aircraft for the logo)

Tacoma Narrows!!! (always wanted to suggest that one, after the original fallen bridge)
