lockup at "installing sounds"

Hi,
I've got a minor problem I thought you should be aware of...
When I try to play a game, or enter one during simming (e.g., someone has 8 hitless innings), a small box will appear stating "Initializing sounds" or "installing sounds", can't remember the exact phrasing, and the game will lock up hard here ... usually ctrl-alt-del and killing the process wont make it go away and I have to reboot ...

this is minor because I have turned off sounds, and the problem has gone away, wanted to send this as an fyi ...

my system :
AMD K6-2 400 MHZ
208 MB RAM
Windows XP
Geforce2 MX Video Card
Creative Soundblaster PCI128 sound card
OOTP 5.1 (installed 4 days ago)

I'd be glad to get more information if needed, but i won't be able to get it till later today, as i'm at work ..

What version of DirectX are you running?

You should be able to get by this problem by disabling sounds in the game options.
