There needs to be a setting...

... that allows me to tell the game to pinch hit for my lefty catcher with the righty catcher he platoons with when the game is tied or we are behind and a lefty is pitching late in the game but doesn't pinch hit for my lead off center fielder late in games where we have the lead just because he's facing a lefty. And in my opinion there should be no setting where the opposite happens. Unfortunately that is just what happened in my most recent playoff game with this team. It just makes no logical sense and doesn't seem to sit within the normal parameters of MLB substitution strategies.

Normal parameters of MLB substitution strategies usually (but not 100%) of the time are out the windows for catchers being pinch-hit for. It's don't happen to often because teams usually carry only 2 catchers & if you pinch hit for one, you only have 1 left & if he gets hurt during that game....you are pretty much screwed....Although most teams have a last resort catcher...not ideal situation
Just my little knowledge of the game is all this is. But I think you can set it up in lineup somewhere to pinch-hit for players, but I play out every game & don't know ins & outs of the AI

This can be done in the individual player strategies.

Just a guess but I would bet that MLB managers pinch hit for the catcher that is in a platoon late in games when behind or tied a lot more often than they pinch hit for their best defensive outfielder late in games when they are ahead.

That doesn't help. I need a box that says "never pinch hit for this player when the team is ahead." I want to have him pinch hit for late in games if we are behind and he's facing a lefty.

There also needs to be a setting that allows you to restrict sac bunting to pitchers only. I'm tired of having my sac bunting strategy setting to one level above "never" and then see position players sacrificing in the early innings. It wouldn't be so bad if it was at least limited to sac bunting in the 7th or later in close games. But I get extremely frustrated seeing my guys bunt in like the 2nd inning unless it is a pitcher.

Your idea about not pinch hitting for catchers might make some sense if the AI didn't also do things like this.
