Yankees pull an Ohtani (Canseco?) with Judge

Aaron Judge did not start in a Saturday game in Minnesota, but he was called upon to pitch (brought in after a leadoff single, at that) in the bottom of the eighth inning. Gave up a three-run HR to give the Twins a 16-0 lead, but he stayed in the game to bat in the ninth and hit a two-run HR that resulted in a 16-2 final. Judge threw 17 pitches.

In 1993, the Rangers brought in Jose Canseco to pitch in a blowout, and he blew out his arm. Fortunately for the Yankees, Judge did not suffer the same fate.

In my first year managing a terrible team I had a couple of games where I just felt I couldn't justify chewing bullpen arms so I used a position player. I chose the overpriced veteran I am forced to carry to do this, even though one of my regulars has better pitching stats, thinking of exactly this possibility... didn't realize it actually happened. At least I'm not paranoid now.

The most interesting line here is "T. Wade pinch hit for S. Gray in the 5th" - what happened to the designated hitter?

Interleague away game, most likely. DH rule need not apply.

EDIT: Nevermind... just saw it was against the Twins...

That is interesting. Wonder what gives?

Could be that the team moved, or the DH rule was turned off, or something like that.
