Way to Disable Same-Year Amataur Draft?

Hi all, OOTP 19 is my first and I've been hooked since I got it last week. It's a really wonderful game.

I'm running a 1948 real life historic league. I did not uncheck the amataur draft button before the season started so my draft is scheduled for Mid-December 1948. I'm about 45 games into the season right now.

I've changed my mind about the draft since starting the season though and want the 1949 historic rookies going to their real teams this offseason. I have historical rookies import on. My question is - will there be an ability to turn off the draft in thr offseason before the draft actually happens? Or will I just have to eat the draft this year and then have it unchecked in the future?

if the draft pool isn't created yet, you should be able to change the settings easily. also, make sure to delete it from the League Event List, under reports in menu at top. if it was scheduled, you can remove it before the pool is created and no problems whatsoever.

before i start any league i make sure to create a template before loading the league for the first time from game creation screen/wizard. this way you can easily restart if something is odd the first year. simple mistakes happen as well as changes of heart.

with historical play, you may want to make the template after the game loads, this template file will be larger, but it contains the players too. league settings - all league fucntions under "available actions" OR if not there, go to global settings/game settings and it should be in teh available actions.. 3rd time the charm, try league structure, lol.

not something i do often, but it is an available option at any time after creation too. then, i delete them after i am fully invested in that league, or save it for posterity if it's something i'll re-use.

Yes, but turn the draft off now and leave import historical rookies checked. You should see the rookies placed on their historical teams on the first day of the offseason. Don't wait until the offseason starts to turn the draft off because you will lose the class.

Thanks guys. I feel like I'm still missing something though - I'm attaching what I see. The option is unavailable from what I can see. Is there something I'm missing?

If it's not possible, I'll make sure to still allow the draft to happen, then just manually move players correctly so I don't lose the class. Thanks for the tip.

Yep, you’re right. You apparently cant turn it off mid-season. So you will have to have the first one and fix it next pre-season.

delete the creation of the draft pool from event list and also the draft itself. make sure it doesn't repopulate when you advance a day too.

in menu at top.. under your "league name" portion of the menu... finite space to search, or use manual, i can't recall exact location.. reports submenu, maybe?

(just in case, create a back-up before you do this) or, use a restored backup to test it and sim out to see if it works... just don't look at statistical results at all or you might feel sc$wed over when you don't get as good of results the second time, lol.

if it is created and you can't avoid it.. change it to 1 round of created players etc.. shorltist them and delete them. as if it never happened... or shortlist to work on as you would want them - place wherever etc..
