Game Automatically Checking "Use As Two Way Player"

Weird problem I've been having with the game. I wrote before that players with pitcher/batter potential were only getting progress for one side (usually pitcher) even if I had them playing as a better full-time.

I went back and saw i had "use as two way player" checked so I thought that was the issue..But for the last two player development reports, the game keeps checking the two way player on. I know for sure it was checked off from the last time I did it.

Don't understand why it's happening or how I can ensure it stays disabled. Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: Just tested it again and as soon as I advance the day, it reverts back. I've even had it on force use at the position too.

Are you controlling the lineups or are you letting your coaches do it? I've found playing as a GM that if you don't take control of all the decisions the coaches will do as they see fit. Including checking the 2 way box immediately after you uncheck it.

Yes, I was telling the coaches to do it. But I think it's weird it works that way. If being able to lock my player to his minor league team overrides the Asst GM when I have him handling the other minor league promotions/demotions, the same should work for the two way player, right?

Only solution I have now is to turn off two-way players entirely. Which is kind of a bummer.

Funny enough. Just did another player development. Even with two-way players turned off, even with my player listed as a SS, he is still only being shown improvement for his pitcher stats. I don't understand why.

I would prefer not having to manage the minors so I wish the ai wouldn't overide my preferences regarding the 2 way players as well. There may be another way to do it, but I haven't found anything yet.

Having the same issue with Jack Flaherty with the AAA Memphis Redbirds.
I don't want to day-to-day manage my minor league teams, but even though I check off the two-way player option the manager insists on starting him at either DH or 1B. Checking on the two-way option the day after I advance a day.
What's weird is his batting rating are not that good. There are probably worse than any position player on the roster, but still he is there in the everyday lineup.
Can I just dumb down his hitting ratings to see if that gets him pulled from the lineup?

yeah, that's an option. rescout him or force a full recout after you do so or hte mangers will still operate under his 'old' ratings until a new scouting report updates.

what if you 'force' as sp? worth a shot too. even when you delegate lineups, it doesn't usurp forced starting role.

Bottom line: is this feature worth it? Does it need some time to get better? What’s the feeling?

Ok, I'll try to rescout him. I have the player I want to play SS as "force shortstop." That doesn't seem to have an effect. Neither does unchecking "no way two players" for the global options. It isn't switching him back like it was before but the game doesn't see him at his desired position.

darn, was hoping the force thing would work.. .but changin his ratings will definitely change the manger's minds about his bat... (make sure inaccuracy doesn't rear it's ugly head.. make sure his offensive ratings go down after re-scout)

heh, was about to say uncheck the box for psucolonel... maybe it has to cycle to next season? even advancing a day after unchecking tha tbox did it still try to use 2-way players?

lol, and i made a post about how good this year was... it's just like every other year... oh well.. .give it time it'll get cleaned up and functional eventually. glad i didn't delete '18 yet... and it faily to import anyway... was up to "400,000" records optimized and a ~10gigabyte file during import process when the league itself was a total of 1.2GB.

i cam back ~X hours later and it was still processing.. <end process> forget that nonsense, lol.

I am torn on the feature myself but at the same time I think it's cool to just let some guys wait and see if they can develop. I do hate on checking the box but as long as it's not a rechecking it after I uncheck the box I'm OK with it.

Yeah, I'll see if it cycles. Should know soon. In my next year. Unchecking the two-way box globally does stop it from using two-way players individually but so far, it hasn't changed how the scouting report views him. They still see him as a SP even though I have him playing short.

It will re-check it unless you disable two way entirely.

Right. Just as there is for the "lock player into minor league" feature.

FYI, if you set the player to lock to minor league level, then the AI won't override the two-way flag on him.
