Question Can you start at the beginning of the offseason?

So you can make your own off-season signings instead of what the "real" gm did?

Sure, it just requires a little work.

Start an historical season for last year with real line-ups and transactions in place. Sim until the end of the season then take over as the team you want and turn off the features listed above.

Ok. Will grades and such happen because it's a historical league? Or just commissioner the necessary ones?

i think the ratings will be different? historic and "2018" ratings are forged differently i think?

the lineups and trasnaction are the same but can you lock the stats to mimic real life too? i thought it still plays out on its own. if it does lock it to 2017 somehow, you only have to worry about transplanting players if their ratings are different and you don't want them to be.

otherwise, i think the only way to get the 2018 roster unscathed would be another p.i.t.a.

export players from a fresh "2018" game to be used later. the stats too. take note of how many players are in the league, you need to know the total amount. locking transactions and such should keep it "in-line". *list all players, include minors etc etc,, it shows the #.

you can do a historic 2017league to get the teams and mil etc no changes since 2017?? if so, the teams will be in teh same order, but maybe different id's you'll have to make sure.

zoom out to the date you want to start.

export players from the 2017... you now have 2 exports from a stock 2018 league and 1 export form teh 2017 (just in case, export stats too, maybe it will be easier to copy/paste stuff etc but likely won't use it.)

2 requiremnts - you need 'enough' existing players. if there are somehow fewer players, simply make some extra players - you can make them in builk -100, 150 etc... do this before exporting, of course.

you need to reuse playerid's.. do not paste over this column - simple as that. keep team id's if they are different to.. excluse that column - even if different numbers they will be the same order.

if team id's and player id's are both the same, you can justimport these files interchangeably.. if not keep reading.

use a spreadsheet top open the 2 roster exports and 1 stats.. ignore lines that start with "//" they are comments when you import the csv.

you can use the sort function if it makes things easier to do.

copy paste players over exisitng players.. do not paste over player id's. if team id's are different you must leave this unmolested too.

i've never transplated stats, but you'll likely need to paste existing player id's over the ids in the stats page.. make it mathc, re-use what's important.. only the data is being swapped. sort it by any column if it makes for an easier copy/paste

once everythign is converted and re-using existing player and team id's you can import these without any problems. you now have the 2018 rosters and stats from that league transplanted to an earlier date.

this is by rote.. all that matters is that you re-use playerids and put them on the right teams etc.. at least for the rosters files it should be the same order - may need to change a few players per team if it's not matchign up perfectly due to some transactions like 2018 FA being completed etc etc..

if you don't feel confidnet using a spreasdheet.. i wouldn't try this.. if you don't understand just athe most simplest basics of a database and unique id's.. don't do this. you do not need to be an expert, though.. whatever doesn't fit exactly from what i said above - it all comes down to existing player and team id's and matching up.. all the rest will fall into place,
