Bug or User error? - Teams Only Playing 154 Games
So I started a fictional league of sorts. I have the MLB league structure, minors, etc. and added in the US Independent leagues. I have season schedule length set to 162 and yet all the teams play no more than 154 games. Some play 152 and others 150. At first I thought it was the Balanced Schedule, but that makes no difference, same goes with Rainouts.
Also, is there anyway to use a hard salary cap? I set it to above the average payroll and a few teams still go over it by 30 million. |

In the league schedule settings, is "adjust league start date if schedule found" ticked? If not, there's a distinct possibility the game failed to find a proper unbalanced schedule and resorted to the flawed balanced-schedule generator, which leaves teams a few games short because it schedules byes where interleague should be. Yes, the salary cap option is a hard cap - but there are unfortunately a few exploits that can get a team over the cap. |

Do you have an uneven number of teams, by chance? The built-in schedule generator struggles with that.

next preseason, after it generates schedule, but before you get to opening day.. (or use a backup to back in time...) go to the option page for the schedules...
i can't recall if it's this screen or after you click "edit schedule" -- either way "Available Actions" will allow you to do a schedul evaluation. (or maybeit's the grid report, lol 1 of 2 optiosn there you'll have to try both, maybe).. you can check # of games and re-generate with differnt options until it fixes the problem ... also, you'll see exactly what's wrong and that might help deduce the problem (most likely what the other three mentioned -- you can find old forum posts that will confirm for sure) when done fixing or re-generating with correct settings, export the schedule, rename it with your league's name... then dump it into the "../data/schedules" directory -- no worries after this point... it will jumble the matchups based on this schedule from now on. make sure to load that freshly named/exported/dumped schedule just in case for the initial time. you can verify the file name is being used in below the main settings for the schedule. even a button to open the selected lsdl file in an external browser. as long as no other schedules have the league's name, it should stick with it. this stuff is always backed up, no worries deleting a similarly named schedule... each time you patch/install ootp you'll have to delete it again. the above may not be exactly perfect, but it is all there and can be completed wiht a lil open minded reading.. may just have to try a couple things due to brain fart on the exact syntax that you'll see
