Start or Wait

Simple question, should I start my long-term MLB save now? Or wait until Opening Day or the first update?

Also, should I take over my favorite team or a rebuild..

And, I guess I should ask what would be the best way to play for a realistic challenge.

A long term save I would feel confident starting now. Any minor updates they will send out next week (assuming there is an opening day update) will auto work with your long term save, only the updated rosters wont which you likely dont care about on a long term save.

Who you should take over is a different question... Who is your favorite team?

No need to wait for updates. Only reason I can see to wait is if you want to capture the Opening Day rosters.
For challenge - make sure you set pitching warm up as a requirement, trading settings to difficult, don't be commissioner, etc.

Favorite team is Milwaukee.

Sort of care about Opening Day rosters, but not that important. EDIT: You know what, I'd rather wait until Opening Day rosters are released, considering we cant play Spring games right away.

And by challenge, I mean should I increase TCR, should I adjust aging and development to use with Modern Injuries, does Stats-Only really make it more difficult, should I go Very Low or Low scouting, etc.

TBH I've been torn on those for so long.

Start now. Our OD rosters are projections anyway and will not match the real life rosters 100% since we cannot force the AI to act exactly as the real GMs

Unless if you want to start with Bumgarner hurt Things like that are the largest changes that you would see in the rosters between now and opening day, other than the usual batch of tweaks and updates to ratings.

Yes I would like to see both Giants Pitchers,Ryan Merritt on DL and other roster decisions that have to be made. Also the GM's act as real ones.

Start now...

I started with my Cardinals.. pretty much defaults except for a few things like dynamic prospect reports, 1-10 rating scale, etc..

I like to wait until actual opening day injuries and all last minute up to date signings and extensions are reflected.

Too pass the time, I would start with a team maybe you don’t care as much about and then save your favorite teams for when the baseball world is updated or play with history which is something new I have found really addicting

There is not enough time in life to do everything you want in this perfect game

Yeah, by Opening Day rosters I meant just as far as injuries and everything that can be updated. But defaults are good? Even for aging and development with Modern Injuries?

how picky of a person are you? what is important?

if the rl injuries and opening day rosters are imporant, maybe wait. (relative to what matt said above as far as what can be a reaonable expectation/concern)

if you don't want a potential weird shift in offense/defense due to tweaks they may or may not make to all the various components that add up to these totals, then you should probably wait even longer - like end of april or into may/june in some years.

all that can be 'fixed' through settings and adjusting, but if that sort of blip is upsetting, then you should wait.

it's difficult to know what's "off" until it's realeased for a month or 2. anyone who says differently has a short-term/glorified memory about past releases. the simple fact is that we are used as debuggers. this is not an ootp-thing.. it is industry-wide.

Do you need to start a new game everytime there are roster updates?

If you want to use the latest updated roster, yes.
